So lets say that it's 2nd and 3rd and a batter hits a pop fly in foul territory. The 3rd basemen goes to field it and drops it thus making it an error. Now the batter is still up and he gets a single to center. Is there anyway that the hit wouldn't be recorded as a hit because the batter should be out? Would the RBI's count?

Single counts, RBI's count. If there were two outs at the time, the runs would be unearned as the error would have been the 3rd out. Less than two outs, runs are earned.

I don't think this is quite right. I think you reconstruct the inning without the error(s) to determine which runs are earned (rule 10.16). In this case assume that the dropped foul would be out number two. If the next batter K's, then the runs are unearned since the runners would never had advanced without the error. If the next batter hits an HR, then all the runs would be earned since the runners that scored on the previous hit would have scored on the HR....

But it is always a hit and the RBI's count for the batter that benefited from the error...
