CATCHER CLINIC (a total of one hour).
January and February SUNDAY MORNINGS at 11 am.
A focused one hour mini-clinic with emphasis on instructions and training. Instruction begins basic, then increases in intensity to relate game-like situations. Each technique is demonstrated, then drills are presented to reinforce each skill.
Skills & Drills (20 minutes each); techniques, demonstrations, practice/drills for RECEIVING, BLOCKING, THROWING.

CATCHER POPTIME CLINIC (continuous).
This Clinic is designed for 3-4 catchers to work for an hour a week on POP-TIME. The sessions run continuously with the focus on catcher analysis, demonstrations of skills with drills, and one featured section of ACT each week. You can attend any -or- all... missing a week is not a sin! We will periodically; measure pop-time, promote friendly competition and catcher comparisons.
Sundays January & February at 2pm; and Wednesdays at 7pm; starting 1/13/2013.

Monthly CATCHER's CAMP (a total of four hours).
Catching, at its core, is receiving, blocking, throwing... and fielding the ball! Before you take the field in 2013, improve yourself in these four target skill areas. Each Sunday at 12:30 (and repeated on Wednesday at 8pm), a different skill is scheduled, for four weeks in January, then again in February.

Each of the four sessions is an hour (skills/drills with individual evaluation) in two phases (basic & advanced) available per target skill:

RECEIVING – three stances (signaling, relaxed, ready).
  • signaling and game control
  • relaxed- to expand the strike zone
  • ready- to block and throw the ball

BLOCKING – is NOT catching the ball
  • stopping and controlling the ball in the dirt
  • how to spring-up from knees
  • scoop/ rake the ball using glove and hand

THROWING – to bases (first, second, third)
  • enhanced mechanics- footwork, compressing stages
  • transferring ball from glove to hand
  • balancing the risk of accuracy vs quickness
  • advantage of the Pitch Out
  • different techniques based on the pitch and the catcher

    FIELDING – miscellaneous plays
  • Bunts
  • Tags at the Plate
  • Pop-Ups
