Thats what I thought too. I think that is the way it should be.
In our conference there is a female wrestler. She is good - I think, cause I don't know how hard the guys really try against her. I always feel bad for the guy who wrestles her, they are in a no win situation. Win- so what you beat a girl - lose- a girl beat you haha
Now there is also a girl on a travel team my son plays against. She is good-but the talk is always are her parents doing her justice in a baseball league when in HS she will have many opportunities in Softball - which she may have to learn some(I don't know are the rules different-I am a Mom that never played)
I'm a Mom with a son and a daughter I don't like the thought of girls on the boys team and I really don't like boys on the girls teams. JMHO

I played baseball with the guys up to the age of eighteen. I stopped playing against them cause U just couldnt get around on a fastball faster than 85mph with a wood bat and hit for power with consistency. *sniff sniff*
But up to that time I absolutely had a blast playing with them. They never mistreated me or went easy on me on the field.
I still play baseball on occasion with guys my age. I am 25 still cant hit pitches harder than 85 consistently.
I think a girl that wants to play on a baseball team really needs the moral support of the coach and her teammates. Until there are more opportunities for a girl to play baseball with her own gender. I like playing with both genders.
Recently played with some guys in my hood, they were suprised at my fielding abilities and throwing the ball into the infield from right field. I was on cloud nine for the rest of the day! They invited me to come back and play with them whenever they get together on the weekends.
I'd better dust off my louisville slugger for next season! Got wood, will travel!

Hmnn. Seems like a double standard here doesnt it? You say let the girl play on the boys baseball team but, if a boy wants to play softball let him start up an all male team? Why not just tell the girl to start an all girl team? Or let the boy play on the girls team? Shouldnt here be some consistency in approach if you are going to demand access?

However, I do not believe that guys should be allowed to go join a female team due to the fact that for the most part, men are physically stronger than women. It would not be fair to the women that want to play sports in high school to have to compete against a men unless they decide they want to. If all the sports were co-ed then eventually we would have teams with 95% men on them, regardless of the sport.
Should men be allowed to compete in the women's division in track? I would think the answer would be an obvious no. However, if there were a dominant female track star that never lost and had times as good as the men's, I personally would have ZERO problem with her lining up against them.

When I was a high school frosh I really wanted to play s****r. Unfortunately there was only a boy's team. So I talked to the coach. He told me he would have no problem taking me on the team if I could keep up with the guys. Unfortunately my dad refused to sign the consent form. He was afraid that I was going to get hurt.
I found this pretty darned amusing from my dad's perspective considering the fact he had full knowledge that I played full contact hockey with guys at the time too!

What if a some boys wanted to play softball in HS? Would anyone here have a problem with them being able to try out as long as the girls were able to try out for baseball?

S****r was the first sport dad introduced me to. I came to baseball by my own passions. Dad's family came from a mountainous region in western aisa.

I find it funny that many posters say if a school has a girls softball team they should not be allowed to play baseball. At the same time, if you asked the same group if they thought baseball and softball were the same "sport", they would say "softball is not the same as baseball".

My bad if I misunderstood. I think we are in agreement, but Im not actually all that sure about my position lol. I think that any individual should be allowed to "play up" if capable so Im for the girl playing baseball. Not really comfortable with "playing down" but also not convinced that is necessarily whats happening in going baseball to fastpitch softball. So Im confused I guess.
play baseball...earlier, you were referring to the girl in TN. She plays at Christian Brothers University in Memphis. True, she is not a big contributor, but has been a part of the team since she was a freshman. She is entering her senior year now.
Infidel_08-The Silver Bullets were a very solid team coached by Joe and Phil Niekro. They were actually together in the mid 90's as I had the opportunity to compete against them. I was playing for a Stan Musial team in Memphis at the time. I remember one of our guys (thank goodness it wasn't me) struck out 3 times during the game.
