I was just telling a friend how much I love the fourth. There's something about watching those fireworks with people you care about. Throw a ballgame in there and it's perfection!

I'm not sure what I'm doing yet, but hope everyone has a very safe day! Smile

SSM - Like those pics! You're becoming our female Gotwood! Great job!!
BUMP Smile

Place, ( I prefer to use the word " slather " Big Grin ) mayo on fresh corn with the husk pulled down,....add a little salt and chili powder if you so desire ( you can also sprinkle with parmesan cheese ). Fold corn husk back around corn and tie in a knot or with string,....then place corn on hot grill.
Take off of grill when done. ( doesnt take too long )
Mouth watering walah!

I've never tried this before,...but think perhaps I just might! Big Grin
Bacon wrapped corn on the cobb!

IN my house---just got back from a 3 day 5 game stint at University of Rhode Island---great breakfast at home--- Circque Du Soleil's OVO and an early dinner at 5PM Cheesecake Factory in West Hartford---now watching Sunday Nite baseball on ESPN

Two more days at home and then to Albany NY for the Connie Mack Qualifier

Great fun
Yesterday we started off the holiday weekend by watching the Twins play the Rays at beautiful new Target Field in Minneapolis. Before the game we enjoyed a tribute to all of our armed forces, with a military band, color guard, and servicemen and women throwing out ceremonial first pitches and singing the national anthem. The ceremony was capped off by five Navy SEALs skydiving into Target Field - very cool!

(It looked more dangerous from the stands than in does in the video - it was a very windy day!)

The tribute to our military was my favorite part of the day, but we also got to watch Jim Thome tie and then break Harmon Killebrew's HR mark (573 and 574), moving Thome to 10th place all-time.

Today has been very low key - snacks on the deck and enjoying a fabulous Minnesota summer day. We're still outside on the deck, and I hear the fireworks starting up around us.

We are truly blessed to live in this great country where freedom is almost taken for granted. I have been thinking about our servicemen and women with much gratitude and thankfulness. God bless you, and God bless America!

Happy 4th, everyone!

Spent the day with 2 of my nephews back home from the Marines. Third one who is also a Marine is headed back to Afganistan. He's already done 3 tours of Iraq. 2nd Nephew is headed there in April of next year and other one? Well, he absolutely doesnt' know what they are going to do with him. He works with satellites but was told his services are "badly needed" but the question is where? My Brother proudly displays 3 Marine Flags from his house along with the Stars and Stripes. He has a wall dedicated to his sons.

About the food, hot dogs, brats, pork steaks, some of the best corn on the cob you'll ever taste, baked beans (family recipe), ... Even my daughter who is a picky eater went back for seconds.

We have so much to be proud of. Our great land was founded on the notions of freedom, one man one vote, a representative government, and the consent of the governed. I'm proud to be an American. God Bless America!

Wow Coach...there wasn't even have a hint of your condition when the three of us dined at that bustling Italian ristorante!

You're what...seven or eight months along? When's your due date and what are you going to name that paunch of lasagna?

If you give birth at home remember to have plenty of hot water on hand. I'd recommend heating it in a microwave oven...it'll be piping hot before you finish your salad! Really!
