A few things about moderators (speaking only for myself): We are not against free speach, or control freaks. We do not wear capes, walk on water, have a personal sage or an inside track with an oracle.
We are simply people willing to assist Bob in the arduous task of maintaining the atmosphere of this site. We encourage everyone to share their love of baseball, their experience and knowledge.
On occassion a poster will forget their board manners. They initiate personal attacks, take the bait in a heated exchange, or simply retaliate. That is when moderators "earn their pay"". We enjoy this as much as children enjoy brussel sprouts and spinach.
We are not alone though. Many concerned members help out. They risk having their heads chopped off by posting those "gentle reminders" when others forget their board manners. They may not have the ability to edit or delete posts, but they do play a vital role (and often pay dearly for it).
Good luck to all the newly designated moderators on this forum. And for all you non-formally designated moderators - thank you for your efforts as well.
