Would like to congratulate RHP Chris Malone of Vero Beach Dodgers for 7 complete innings of shutout ball last night against St Lucie Mets who are in first place and loaded from top to bottom with future big league hitters. Speaking of hitters, would also like to congratulate Xavier Paul/RF for his continued success at Vero and especially his GRAND SLAM IN BOTTOM OF NINTH LAST NIGHT TO TIE SCORE WOW !!! It was an honor to be there! Would also like to congratulate former Stetson Hatter, Chris Westervelt, for his game winning knock in extra innings. Never forget meeting Chris's dad in Atlanta a few years back at Super-regional at Chandler Stadium in Atlanta. What a super guy and family and couldn't have happened to a nicer guy in Chris getting drafted and doing a fine job catching for Dodgers. He called an excellent game last night with 2.0 pops or better all night and working with Malone ! Smile
Keep up the good work everybody ! You are all winners ! peace, Shep

Would like to congratulate Mark Rogers-RHP who plays for Class "A" Brevard Co Manatees for his win tonight in FL STATE LEAGUE game against Kyle Sleeth and Lakeland Tigers. You can expect to see this matchup again in show, sooner than later Wink

Rogers threw 75 percent first pitch strikes with only one run allowed in 6 2/3 innings.

Here is the juicy part, Rogers cruised in range of 96-99MPH, more 98-99MPH than 96-97MPH with fastballs touching 100MPH on several pitches. These readings were consistent among three stalker guns. peace, Shep

Sorry a little late posting this. Son 14, only freshman to make talented JV team, started at short and batted third. Batted .457 twelve doubles, 2 triples, 3 homeruns. Led the team in RBI’s and Homeruns.

Summer League First seven games. Team 7-0, in fourth game of season hit three homeruns in succession and is batting over .430. Tonight pitched a perfect game into the six innings with twelve strikeouts. Starting to reap the benefits of those long winter nights in the batting cages.
Would like to congratulate Yovani Gallardo-RHP for the Brevard CO Manatees for his dazzling performance as the starting pitcher against Lakeland Tigers Saturday. He is ready for the next level. Mid 90's FBs with mid to upper 80's power sliders with plus change. Pitchability good and command of "all" pitches simply amazing.

Between Mark Rogers, Yovani Gallardo and the rest of Brevard's staff, the opposition's batting average dropped about 20 points to around .250 in weekend series even with rainout on Sunday!!!

Mark Rogers told my wife and I last night in Vero that he would get start this upcoming Thursday night and Gallardo would be Friday night starter, back in home field in Viera. If your in the neighborhood around I-95 in Viera and would like to see for yourself if what I say is 100 percent true, please please say hello. We(scouts) will all be about 8-10 rows back behind homeplate. Would just love to see ya! We(scouts) will be in St Lucie tonight for Mets vs Palm Beach Cardinals matchup if anybody's in that neighborhood. Maybe some of you can help the Shepster put some "issues" of late to rest about the Shepster's credibility(scouting) in who he is and shut somebody up! Smile peace, The Shep
3 starts is not consistent yet !! Sure, that's improvement, but, he was TERRIBLE last year and has a +6 ERA prior to those 3 starts with TONS of walks. He'll make it, but, if you want a guide for consistency, check out Kevin Slowey of Ft. Myers. THAT's what I call consistent.

Here's a link for you:

If you need any other examples of consistent pitchers like Yovani and Kevin, please let me know. When Rogers gets there, I'll let you know!!

If you have any other players you like in FL STATE LEAGUE please let us know who they are.
With players being moved up and down, as well as players going on DL and getting brought up quickly form extended and also sometimes signed as free agents and placed directly in League, it is difficult for even the best of us to keep up with it. If you here of anything of interest in Southern League, we would appreciate that help too. peace, Shep
Would rather remain anonymous on this board but I think you would be really surprised TR. If you wanna find out, you gotta come to a game Smile
I really don't think it's anybody's business unless they come see for themselves. That will be sooo Sweeeettt!!!! Already has been with a lot of members who witnessed the fiasco a few months back Wink Man that is vindication ! Later TR !!!

Sorry to hear about your problems but you still didnt answer the question---PM's work as does my email and phone

I dont need to go to a game to see a scout-- anyone can hand me a card and you know that to be fact---

I attend games to see players not how many scouts are there---Are you going to be at Shea Stadium on Friday nite?

Nothing is out of hand nor does it ever get that way with me---thought I could buy you a hotdog and coke Friday nite and also throw in a bag of peanuts ---plenty to go round now that the elephants may not be in the circus-- but they will still cost the same per bag--gotta love NYC--my treat Shep

U didnt answer the question yet and yes I am a rare breed or so my wife tells me but she also says that is why she loves me-- I am not like anyone else she has ever met

As for the first pick in the draft perhaps that is why you think I am a rare breed--I do not forcast that sort of stuff like you do---why should I? I am not a pro scout

You want to talk about it--call me--you know where I am-- "I have a great passion for the game"
Shep, been following the draft all day and thought maybe I missed him and kept backtracking.... Turns out the NYY did get him but in the 8th RD Big Grin

I did hear that he had an offer from VANDY
and perhaps that scared teams off which is
similar to situation last year with fellow NYer Pedro Alvarez (3B who can rake!) who slipped to 12th RD (BOSOX) and instead opted for VANDY.

Should be interesting as the NYY certainly have the cash and home field advantage to reel this kid in Smile

Son's summer team just won the 18U BCS Perfect Game Southeast Regional tournament at East Cobb. Ended up with a 6 - 0 record, scoring 56 runs and only allowing 13 runs over the 6 game series. Way to go boys! KayMart 4's team placed second.

Congrats to both teams and all the boys!!

Another note ~ son was selected (along with KayMart 4) as Top 20 Juniors in state to attend Sunbelt Classic Baseball Series in Oklahoma. Boys reported to GA Tech tonight for meeting, orientation, workout and game, before leaving in the morning for Oklahoma. All pitchers worked an inning ~ Zach came in with the bases loaded, 1 out, batter with 1 - 0 count, and struck out the next two batters!! Way to go!!!!

Congratulations to 47th round draftpick, Terry Evans of the St Louis Cardinals Organization on his recent promotion from Class A Palm Beach Cardinals to the AA Springfield Cardinals. He is off to a red hot start at AA affiliate with several homeruns and over ten RBIs in just a couple of games.
