Here is the Flagship Network for the 10 Million listening audience on the Sandlot Radio Network several of you emailed me and called about. I was a guest on the show for the 2nd segment archived as 3/23/2007, which is preceeded by the 1st segment of the show, with my Carolina League Manager Jim Thrift, as a guest also, this past week. The shows are now archived. It was broadcast live on Wed. night the 21st from the ESPN Sandlot Radio Network Flagship station which is the hub for the other 50 stations that carry the show every week. Shows are archived.
You have access to all the 2005&2006 shows if you click archives and 2005 or 2006 shows. Many distinguished guests have been on this broadcast and I am honored Tad Powers asked me to be a guest on the show, while humbled, at the same time. Here is the Link>

If any of my friends would like to listen to the show, let me know. Tad has okayed this request.
He is a great guy and I highly recommend Sandlot academies to anyone out there looking for those who teach the "C-H-A-M-P" program which is based on developing a well-rounded PLAYER with values as a productive citizen. peace

I like U of K's John Cohen's cue of "barrel close to shoulder". Knob to the ball creates barrel lag, which creates power. Whether you use your hands or your hips more to get to barrel launch, you can't have consistent power without it!

Some younger hitters have a tendency to extend outward from the body as they bring the bat through the hitting zone. This results in a slower swing, that some may call "Army". A quicker way to the ball is to have the hands go in a straight path to the hitting zone. This results in a much quicker swing. This is "staying inside the ball". Allowing your arms to extend prematurely as you are bringing the bat to the hitting zone would be the alternative and less efficient outcome.
I also like his approach to teaching hitting, which is "find your best swing"!

could not resist !!! if your so anti Lau then why dont you just get a mlb job as a hitting coach/instructor instead of loading the shark tank in here with chum.
Charlie Lau and his "camp" have helped me and alot of others to be better hitters for power and average to all fields.sorry it may not be for you or your kid. but for some it works .
i have to face 19 yr olds at 90mph and viscous stuff to 15 yr old junk ballers at 5o mph playing aau and school ball . with out the hitting instruction i've gotten i would still be the 200 hitter with 1 over the fence that wasn't foul and 10 that were . now i can take that down and away strike out pitch and dump it over the r/fielders head for a triple . is this game about scoring runs or just can you hit it over the fence . like golf john daily was a long drive champ and not a consistent good golfer like tiger or b.j. . when the homerun derby is the difference IN THE WORLD SERIES let me know
KNOW COME GET SOME OF THIS PLATE IF YA DARE OLD MAN!
