Does anyone have a good format for how to run one?
I am thinking different levels of participants, say by age groupings from LL to Adult - we have portable fencing we can use for the younger kids.
But, how much do we charge? it will be a fundraiser.
Are there other events that go on as well? What are they? Thanks!

I think I might need more information from you to give you some ideas.

Is this open to anyone or just the players?
What is your target area for money raised from this - a lot or little?
How many people do you want to be able to participate - set number or just walk up and hit?
Will this be on a high school field or a softball field using slow pitch softball?

Whatever you do choose you need consistent pitching and set rules. I think a pitching machine would be great for the consistency part and any swing and miss is an out (that should be obvious).

Real quick ideas without knowing all your information

Pre-register or set amount.

Set up a bracket and go head to head with the hitters - sort of like the old school home run derby that used to ocme on ESPN as replays. Give them 5 cuts to hit the most homeruns and then a one to one basis in case of a tie - if first guy hits one then other guy gets chance to top it.

Or you could do a pool play similart to what they do at the All Star festivities for MLB. Top two of each pool goes to next round or even the championship pool depending on how you set it up.

Or if you just do a show up and hit then give them 5 cuts and if they hit 5 homeruns give them a t-shirt or some other type of prize.

Prices need to be what your area can afford. Some places you could charge like $10 to enter and some places you might get $2 to enter. You need to make that decision.

Hope this at least gets you started in the right direction.
