Anyone watch the Hot Dog or Brat eating Championships on ESPN.

What bothered me was the announcer kept saying how great these "athletes" are. In fact, at least once he mentioned something like... one of the "world's greatest athletes". This would have been funny except I didn't get the impression that he was joking.

The Japanese guy is amazing. 95 brats in 10 minutes... maybe that does take some kind of athletic ability. He is a machine! BTW, there was a 62 year old and a hundred pound woman in the same championship.

How can anyone eat that many Brats? It just doesn't seem possible!

I agree, Pretty darned amazing...in a gross sort of way...

The thing that amazed me the most was the "Prize fighter" introductions...

"...Ladies and Gentlemen!...Hailing from Nagano, Japan...The Tsunami, Takeru Kobayashi!...Currently ranked #1 in the world by the IFOCE (International Federation of Competitive Eating)...Currently Holds world records in hot dogs at 53 1/4 in 12 minutes...Cow brains 17.7 pounds in 15 minutes...Crabcakes at 48 in 10 minutes...Krystal hamburgers at 97 in 8 minutes..."

Adds new meaning to the term..."LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!..."

Check this out too...

Cool Hand Luke??

Luke was fictional, I think. Minnisota Fats and racers are real. Hockey, field, ice and roller are sports played by athletes.
