Red Sox won a WS in his Rookie year and he went 18-3 the next '08 season... If not for him getting injured in the WBC in '09 it might have been a different ending...

I just don't understand how Tanaka could choose the Yankees over the Astros.  Guess Feldman will be the ace this year.

If Abreu makes the team out of ST, the Phillies will be able to start 5 guys who started games for them in 2004.  I'm not sure anyone else can even get to 2.

Also, they could start 4 who started in 2003.  The guy who falls off the list, the youngest, is Ryan Howard.

i want to puke just typing about it - to think how Amaro has destroyed this team in a few years...it is sad.

Dave Montgomery and the rest of Phillies ownership need to go to a rehab - they obviously have have a drug or alcohol problem to allow this man to continue as GM.

Philies signed Chad Gaudin to a minor league deal.  Unless his legal issues blow up that's a great signing. The guy is tough, versatile, and has really good stuff.

If you scroll back you will see I said the Yankees will spend whatever it takes. At 155M it looks like they did. That's two Yankees I'm happy the Red Sox didn't spend to obtain.

Maybe the Phillies next move is dig up Whitey and put him in center. And chances are they can find Dick "Don't call me Richie" Allen at a race track.

I don't get signing a guy who has been injured and done nothing for five years. He hasn't played in the last two at all. The Sox don't need a left handed hitting outfielder. They need a right handed hitting center fielder. The only logic I can see is the Sox have a deal set up involving Mike Carp and Sizemore is the left handed bat replacement.

With Lasik, a 70 year old Dick Allen might be a decent acquisition.  The guy used to mash even though he was practically blind.

BLD - Sizemore would not have been my idea at all.  Ben Cherington has proven to be pretty good at these things, and there is little risk.  Sure, roll the dice on this.  Nothing to lose.

RJM - I think this is a subtle way for the Sox FO to show Jackie Bradley there will be creative alternative plans developed if he doesn't produce.  Truthfully, I don't think I would jettison Carp for Sizemore.  Carp has shown what he can do.  Sizemore not so much recently.   I see that as a net loss.   There has to be something else going on.  Let's hope and pray it involves Dempster.

Fenway ... There's been a lot of interest in Carp. I have a feeling there's a deal coming involving Carp and Dempster/Peavy. But first the Sox needed to obtain a left handed bat for the bench. And Sizemore gives Bradley something to think about.

Bad news for Red Sox fans ... The Red Sox and NESN announced today Jerry Remy will be returning to the booth for the 2014 season. 

For me this means even though the Red Sox are on local cable I have to buy the MLB package and an IP blocker to watch games live via the opposing teams feed on MLB TV. Remy is worse than Tim McCarver. On top of his poor analysis his voice is intrusive and annoying. It was so nice having guest announcers the second half of last year.
