How to get recruited for a collegiate summer league team

I was curious to know the typical process with regards to finding a collegiate summer league team. I am a HS senior and committed to a D2 school. The school doesn't exactly have phenomenal summer ball placements; however many teams in the conference do send their players to well regarded teams. I was wondering how do I get my name out there? Is it something that I need to be proactive with or is it more up to my coaches and the reputation of the college I am heading to?

My son attended a D2 school freshmen year, coach won't help with summer team placement, son contacted summer teams and arranged try-out, actual made a team in the NECBL on a 10 day contract, (they were awaiting players to finish their playoffs), after the 10 days they signed for the rest of summer.
