If you watched me play, my hat bill was always flat. It would be pulled down low on my head. And it would be cocked to either the left, or the right, or straight ahead...It all depended on which way the SUN or the lights were SHINING on my face and how I could best USE my hat for its intended purpose, To keep the light out of my eyes. So, it's functional, not a reason to pass judgement. Just like high socks vs. pants legs to your ankles...I played better when my pants were up and out of the way, not binding under my cleats. If it gets the job done...
I was a travel coach through 16U. If you got five feet from the car without your shirt buttoned and tucked, your hat on straight and your pant legs down you didn't have much chance of being in the lineup. I'm wasn't looking for players trying to look different from their teammates. My son's high school coach is the same way. So is the coach of his showcase team. The high school coach even has restrictions on the colors of cleats and batting gloves. You are wearing a uniform. The definition of uniform: of the same form as others, conforming to one rule or mode.
