Good idea.

A couple of more concepts.

a) Start it (and they will come.)

b) I envisioned less than 50 people in attendance the first year.

c) Begin in Jan 06.

d) At the convention decide and agree upon the location for year 2 & 3 etc

e) Determine whether social vs having some objective.

f) Suggest one of the following two weekends:
Sat Jan 14, 2006 at noon
Sat Jan 21, 2006 at noon
Travel day - Sunday.

g) Host Hotels may be
Holiday Inn 856-663-5300
Howard Johnson 856-317-1900
Hilton 856-665-6666
and located in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Rooms are available Saturday if required!

h) Suggest imposing a minimal registration
of $25 per person to cover cost of small conference room (and begin a war chest.)

Go For it.

Bear
How about having a mini tradeshow during the convention spotlighting:

-Baseball Equipment
-Baseball Instruction
-Baseball Camps/Tournaments for both HS and PreHs baseball.
-Baseball Fundraising Ideas
-Baseball Novalty Items/Clothing
-Showcase Info.
-Recruiting companies
-Baseball Publications

Etc. may even be able to convince some of these companies to host a cocktail reception or breakfast with a speaker??????? Help defry the costs.

And how about a Golf Tourney?

Great ideas! I'm hoping to attend wherever we end up, but I agree that Vegas in January is a good possibility since the cost is reasonable and there's plenty of entertainment after we're done talking baseball. (Would we ever be done talking baseball?)

I'd vote for saving the mini-tradeshow ideas for the 2nd annual get-together, keeping the first one fairly simple - but hey, I wouldn't object if someone volunteers to host us all for cocktails! Big Grin

I agree MN-Mom...probably the simpler the better for the first time...unless we have some adventurous souls amongst us who like taking on challenges on short notice! Smile Would also be open to going anywhere, but agree with MN-mom on someplace like Vegas...a place where there are opportunities to do some things outside of baseball talk, and also some great restaurants and entertainment (altho, I'm sure alot of our websters would provide entertainment after witnessing a few evenings in the chatroom! Big Grin). January also sounds like a good time of year.

My niece has a part-time job hosting Karaoke Night at various night spots in Minnesota. She brought all her equipment to our family reunion this summer and we had a blast! Anyone for a trip to Mall of America country? (Not very serious about that question - I don't think Minneapolis would be a low cost airfare for most.)

How about Portland, OR? There is a Northwest Baseball Coaches Convention January 13-15, 2006 at the Embassy Suites at the Portland Airport. It includes some of the top clinicians from throughout the country and a great vendor show showcasing the best and newest equipment on the market.

Visit http://www.nwstar.net and click the productions link to read about last years convention.

This is the major convention for high school coaches in the Northwest.

Let's be clear here Rizzi,

There is absolutely no contemptuous motives from my direction! And it is NOT I who is the cynic here. (and I take exception to your implications regarding my scruples for others.)

And as such, your contempt for acceptable standards of honestly and morality of actions follows you among view points of travel coaches and tourney directors from Maine to Ohio to Va and growing!

We will pray for you.

Bottom Line: Going in a different direction

Good Luck to you.
