Folks, this link will give you an idea of what all is happening in my neck of the woods...(or Gulf/Bay, that is)...Much progress, for which we are all so grateful for!  If anyone is so inclined, there are several LOCAL orgs than can use help, any funds will be used to help folks in Rockport, Fulton, Lamar, Holiday Beach, Bayside... We've got some friends going down this weekend to cut & clear trees & debris...lots to do! HEB has been terrific! Many Church orgs are helping...just so much wonderful & much appreciated support! Neighbor helping neighbor...what it's all about! Right?

Pres & I have basically "adopted" a young guy who lost everything, including the little house he rented. He is doing our clean up & demo, so he's got something coming in. And, helping him line up other jobs...Just want him back in College asap! But there are so many folks that weren't insured, so many local businesses & workers that just have nothing left...My heart aches for them...

My newest "adventure" is a small RV on my driveway here in the next couple days...a roof over my head...and enough room to sleep a couple more, if need be! Then, the next rung on the ladder is getting a structural engineer out (I think my little "Happy House" is a gonner, we'll see!), and lining up contractors. Going from 1900 sq ft to abt 300 for 6 mo-a yr...well, just have to "make the adjustment", right? It's all coming together, thank God!

Hazel is doing fine. Still in Little Rock with her son. She doesn't need to be in the middle of this mess! Safe where she is...

My daughter never lost power, never flooded...Cypress is between I-10 & Hwy 290, just No.

of Katy, so she & her 4 dogs are fine. She's been doing triage & transport staging for animals & livestock from all over So Texas coastline. 3 days in Beaumont, rescued 100+ animals in Cruelty Case...got them back to Houston Tues...Had to euthanize the horses & donkeys, though...7am-midnight makes for tough days...She, too is running on adrenaline! Getting the jobs done!

Man, the stories we'll have to tell my future grandkids..."Peeing on Pearl Street Waitin on Pence to Finish up his Photo Op", & Other Adventures With Hurricane Harvey! It'll be a NY Times best seller!

3 weeks have passed, so figured it about time for an update on Rockport area & my new "mansion on the sea" All utilities, except. cable have been restored. Tx dot has been in my neighborhood the last 2 weeks picking up / cleaning up the remains or contents of abt 300 homes. Huge road graders & dump trucks from 8am-5pm running constantly up & down Copano Cove, my road. A few restaurants have reopened, the post office is still operating from their parking lot. HEB & Walmart up & running. The biggest blessing are the Baptists!!! Sending volunteer clean up crews. Hazel's yard today, this weekend, they will cut up & remove the neighbors deck off my yard. Rent-a-Man (love the name, so he got the job!) coming to cut grass (knee high to a camel now!) My little "mansion" is surprisingly pretty comfortable for 28ft! Can't turn around in the shower, so 1 day the front gets washed, next day the back kidding there! RV will have to do 6 mo to a year. I'M have turkey day on the driveway & Christmas tree will be my pigmy palm in front flower bed. Lots of adjustments! Should be another memorable adventure . Tx wind ins assoc is being the first 3 letters of the 4th word in this sentence! So, battle lines drawn. If this crazy lady can take on the Army Corp of Engineers (last week's adventure I'll explain sometime), I'm geared for the Windstorm Idiots! Structural Eng'n'r deemed "take 'er down, rebuild". So we are getting our own appraiser, builder, & Atty. Messing with the wrong crazy lady here! I expect they'll yield sooner than later. I was able to save some photos, but it's been devastating to lose all the negatives or comp files for digital pics, my genealogy work, the kids yearbooks, Christening dress & suit, Casey's academic awards, Pres' baseball stuff, draft letter from 2006 Pirates, DMN clips/ articles...just too many sentimental things. GONE! But, I'm learning what "contentment" really is! And, best of all, the blessing abound! A storage facility in Spring Branch gave me 6 mo free unit (so stuff we were able to save is safe), King Ranch Crew cleared most of the debris for free, (3 sklds & 12 men took 2 hrs, saved me abt $1k! So thankful!) and a few wonderful folks praying! And the sunrises & sunsets are beautiful beyond words. My new evening entertainment is watching these 2 frogs come out to dine on the June bugs...They're here now , so I'LL close with a huge thanks ya'll, for standing in the gap for us with prayers. I'll get back to baseball posts soon!

cabdad, RZ decided he needed this semester to recover. He lost everything but 3 shirts, 3 shorts & the shoes on his feet! So he has been able to pick up a few tools with help from some truly wonderful "friends", and is busy every day with tear outs, clear outs, clean ups, & sheetrocking. A regular "Job Boss", he's got 2 buddies doing the sweat jobs, while he sells himself to more folks! I've counseled & given pointers & he is really taking himself to a new level! So proud of this young man! He is endowed with a most special spirit & desire to overcome. He'd give Uson Bolt (the Olympic runner) a challenge for the GOLD, I swear! So, I'm sending his counselor a letter to beg on his behalf for that double scholarship for Spring semester. He has certainly earned it! Sat, I'm having them over for red beans & rice & a few " lonestar long necks"! Good ol' Texas cooking. Ya'll come, If you're in the neighborhood! May even set up a quarter size diamond in the yard. With all the farting, we'll  be "blowing them out of the park"! Fun, huh? And, MidAtlantic, thank you! It is a challenge & I have had moments of utter insanity & enough tears to fill Go44dads bayou, but through it all HE Is Faithful. For days I sang that song by Darias Carbough, on YouTube. Today, though, my theme is Donna Summer, I Will Survive! Looking for a mirrored ball to hang here at the Driveway Disco! Got to visualize this 66 yr old in hot pants & knee high boots "grooving"! Oh, dear, NO, best forget that!! That's enough for now. My most heartfelt thanks to hsbbweb family for all the prayers & support. Words are just inadequate!

Samaritan's Purse, YoungLife, & AmeriCorp are operating out of 1st Baptist on Enterprise Dr here in Rockport. Those kids are getting after it! Elderly first, then the " on the cusp" group like me, or where ever the greatest, most urgent need is...Finishing up inventories for all 3 insurance entities...This is painful!...
