Need more info. Fairly vague question about Impact camps. Yes they run quality camps and showcases. Son has been to a couple over the years.
Are you considering one for your player? Need more to go on here.
There is one coming up in Myrtle Beach in November and My son wants to attend. The pamphlet about the camp stated that 30 colleges coaches would be in attendance. We have never attended a camp sponsored by impact only tournaments. They tournament were well organized. Since there was so many big d1 schools in attendance I was just curious about the experience. We will be attending but I always get some insight into things we participate in
One of my best players went last summer after junior year of high school. It was "invite only" and I helped him get the invite. There were roughly 7-10 schools there. The brochure stated more would be there, also stated they would be radar gun tested on every throw from their positions, that didn't happen. They may have clocked the pitchers but this particular player is a SS and they did not clock him. He is a very good player and had a very solid day at the camp. From what I remember, they took a round of BP and a round of infield. I believe he was timed in the 60 but can't swear to it. He was approached by the Dirtbags wanting him to play for them and got a follow up camp invitation from one of the D2 schools there that was personalized and said they saw him at the Impact camp and would like to see him on campus. I was very surprised he did not garner more interest at the camp. If you've got the money, from what I remember it was about $125 bucks then it's probably worth it. Never know who might be there...the one he went to was in the triad. Myrtle Beach might be a different mix of schools. Depending on what grade your son is in I would probably have him contact his top few schools and tell them he will be at the Impact camp and see if they will be there. Good luck. Ultimately my guy signed with another D2 that wasn't a the camp, with academics and athletics combined he received a VERY GOOD financial package, is projected to be starting SS as a freshman, replacing an All American, and has already committed to play SS for a team in the Coastal Plains League next summer. Really quality, high energy person as well...I tell you all that and he still garnered nearly no attention at the Impact Camp when he had a really good day...not sure why.
One of the biggest variables is how old your son is? What year is he? What are his goals? What level does he want to play at?
If he is a Jr. or a stud sophomore, and the schools they show attending, are schools he is interested in, AND you can afford the fee, then go. But a "no" to any one of these may mean, save your money.
I've always erred, with my son, on the side of "showing up." You never know what'll happen. At very least it's grist for the mill, as they say. But you will get a LOT of differing opinions on this site about whether your son should attend or not. In the end, your call, and as always: CAVEAT EMPTOR.
My son is a Jr. And we have gotten several personal invite to d1 and d2 camps to further evaluate him. He wants to play college ball he has the skills and grades just trying to get him in front of as many coaches that we can.
Well, he sounds like a good candidate to go and compete? The "further evaluation" you reference is important. And a valid reason to go to a showcase like this. Some people will say you can borrow a radar gun, you can go to the track with your own stop watch, etc. and save the money. I am a firm believer in the heightened stakes that a public showcase like this one you reference provides.
I applaud your son for "throwing his hat in the ring" to see how he matches up. His #s, assuming you get a written eval with his 60-time and velos, should help him in his search. And also hopefully get some exposure from schools he is interested in there that day.
Good luck.

Welcome to the site, Grind. Hopefully, you will continue to get feedback from those who have direct experience with the Impact camp.
Meanwhile, you can search this site for recent (and not-so-recent) discussions on just about any topic. There is a TON of information on the recruiting process. Depending on other specifics with your son, you may find it advantageous to look into other threads about that. Based on the part of your comment that I bolded, it sounds like you may be taking a shotgun approach. That can be effective but, particularly considering your son is a junior, it may also be helpful if you narrowed the search by coming up with a realistic list of schools to target and then figuring out the most efficient way to communicate with and get in front of those coaches. I am talking about consideration to things like son's chosen major, parents' college budget, proximity to home, academic emphasis, religious slant, preferred class size, town size, weather and other environment considerations, baseball fit, etc. If, after you have gone through a culling process, there are schools on your list that will be at this camp and you are able to have dialog prior to attending, it will hold far more value. If very few of your target schools are in attendance, then less value and maybe another choice makes more sense.
Keep in mind that the school choice goes far beyond baseball and, as others here say, it is about the next 40 years, not just the next 4 years.
We have been doing this since his sopmore year. He put together a target group of school that he wanted to attend. Not new to the recruiting game. There are about 6 of the schools that we have had some form of contact that's going to be in attendance. I will definitely continue to research.

That's great. Then, please continue to post your experiences in the process so others can learn from that as well.
I will definitely let you guys know how thing progress as we journey through the recruiting process. Thanks for all the input.
I know this is an old post, but just doing research on Impact Camps. We are going to attend this coming weekend. Looks good, about 40 college's attending. Price has gone up some but if you want to play in the Carolinas and VA, this seems like a good value to get in front of the coaches. Plus it's going to be a nice weekend in Myrtle Beach. I'll try to post afterward and give an update on our experience, but I hear it is pretty solid and well recruited.
