Jacob just became the 15th person in the world to go from NO LIGHT PERCEPTION to SEEING LIGHT.

What an amazing God there truly is. Even the best eye surgeon in the world, Dr. Tongalp Tezel of Columbia University Medical Center's Harkness Eye Institute, calls it miraculous.

The journey's not over, and I will write the book when it is ... but for now, me, Jessica Parrott, Barby Parrott and JP breathe ... and say thank you, everyone.

This story has really touched me! As I write this we are headed down to Long Beach with my son in the back for the area code games! I am sitting here in happy tears for all of you! It just hits so close to home!!!  Wow! God does work in mysterious way! It's amazing how you were placed into the hands of that incredible surgeon!!! So so happy that he is seeing light!

Heres to continued healing!!!

I agree MOMOF#24. We all hear stuff all the time. Know people going through tough things. But for some reason this one just stuck on my heart from the moment I heard about it. I have not been able to get it off my mind. I have been praying earnestly for days every night and morning. I know many others have as well. I just knew in my heart God was going to show himself through this. I will leave it at that.

JP24,

Please keep the good news coming.  Also, let us know if we can help in any way.  I would like to have our Jeff Dahn write a story about Jacob.  I think it would display how the baseball community truly cares about the young players involved.  Not to mention, eye injuries happen in baseball and it would be good if everyone knew about this great doctor.  And I have always believed that there is a true power that exists when more people are pulling for someone or something.

And thank Jacob for wearing that shirt in the photos.  I don't know why, but that meant so much to me.  In a strange way, it almost made me feel like we were there with him somehow.   In the meantime still hoping and praying for the best because he deserves it.

Coach_May! I have been extra emotional lately as my son just lost a teammate and friend since grade school! He committed suicide, it has rocked all of us, our baseball family and our community to the core!

So when I heard about this it just hit home! My son is 17 and just starting his senior year!

When I just read the update I burst into tears!!!

So happy for them!!!

I understand. A little less than a month ago, the mother of my daughters boyfriends children was brutally murdered by her fiance.  So I too have been pretty emotional and JPs story is one of hope and happiness that I hope will have a happy ending.
