The kind words are greatly appreciated. I love this site and it's because of the many good people who participate here.

Though I understand that controversial subjects often create the most interest, it sure seems odd that this disqualification is the most popular topic about the tournament.

To me the most amazing thing was teams from Chicago, St Louis, Pennsylvania, California, Texas, and the USA type scout teams among the final 8 in Jupiter Florida. (That has never happened before)

I view it as sad rather than odd... in no way should the actions of one coach diminish the accomplishments of ABD - and of the 100s of players who got to display their skills on the biggest stage of the year.

I have to say that after going through this process over the last few years that Perfect Game, and its founder Jerry Ford, remain the very best organization of its kind.

In my interactions with Perfect Game over the years, they have shown the highest level of integrity in every situation - as well as a desire to "do the right thing" unprompted. Early in this thread, someone defined character as "doing the right thing when no one is looking" - I have personal experience of Jerry and Perfect Game doing exactly that.

When asked by parents of the next generation where they should focus their efforts, the Perfect Game series of events are first on my list. They are a wonderful experience - not just for the exposure that they provide - but also for the level of competition and the quality of the experience.

Thank you Jerry and the Perfect Game staff for all that you do for our sport - the work that you do helps keep it our perfect game.

To me there is one part of PG's post that really needs to be emphasized. Jupiter is about getting kids seen. There were 80 teams there and only 16 got to the playoff rounds at all. 64 teams were there for 4 games apiece. 8 teams got 5, 4 teams got 6, 2 teams got a 7th game and only 2 got an 8th game.

While many scouts do stick around for play on Monday, due to budgetary constraints and many other commitments, lots of those scouts are gone by Monday's games. In many cases the scouts are there to see specific players, and if those players' teams are done, the scouts might just check out early and head home. They often feel it is not worth the additional time and money to see only a handful of remaining games, which are often among high profile teams where most of the players are already committed anyway.

Whenever you hold a tournament, the desire to compete is always there and that means you're always striving to win. That's the way it should be, even if a very very few go about it the wrong way.

But for players who are considering this event, its true purpose as stated by PG should be understood. Go down there prepared to bust it for four games. In all likelihood, 4 games is all you're going to get. Make your best statement for yourself in your recruiting and leave it all on the field. If you win your way into more games, great, but don't forget what you really went down there for.

And if you do that, don't sweat over maybe not making it to Monday.
