Well, the info that relates to hsbaseball...
*played hs level and small school college baseball
*Head hs coach for 14 years, 2A-5A made play-off at all levels
*Master's degree and science dept. chair
*Parent of 2 school age children

When you have been doing this for as long as I have there are many more, but that is some basic info
Since my name isn't on the site, here are my credentials.
All American 3 years at ASU
22 year MLB
HOF first ballot
HC for the yankees and Cardinals, 6 time WS winner
Coach of the year 5 times
Best selling author of the most read coaching book,"Everything you need to know about baseball" 8 million copies sold, 20th reprinting
Also, "How to be a great baseball parent." 12 million copies sold.
Last, "The Baseball Bible" 45 million copies sold. Currently coming to theaters near you starring Brad Pitt as me.

Now you know that I have the final word on all things baseball.

(Sorry TR, couldn't resist)
Ok I'll bite:

  • 21 year old college senior LHP.
  • Three-time conference leader in ERA.
  • 2011 Division III ABCA All-Region recipient.
  • Played for several elite travel organizations in high school that traveled to many elite tournaments throughout the country, including East Cobb and Jupiter, both twice.
  • Coastal Plain League- 2010
  • Valley League- 2011
  • Attending Georgetown University in 2012-2013 to obtain a Master's degree in Sports Industry Management. Will also pitch for the Hoyas using one remaining year of collegiate eligibility due to a medical redshirt.
  • Pitching coach of a 16u travel team for two summers.
  • Volunteer assistant college baseball coach.

All of the above does not make me smart, or a baseball genius. But if you want a resume, there it is.

I just like posting here and giving/receiving advice because I love baseball. All the other stuff above are just add-ons.

Can I send you something to autograph
Fifth string back up right fielder in little league. Watched a mariner game once on tv.
Mowed the lawn on a baseball field in 1979.
League president of the WBLOMN (whiffle ball league of my neighborhood).
Sports agent representing the best tee ballers in the state.

So can I now ignore and invalidate any TR comments when someone with a greater perceived (by me) resume posts an opposing view?

We're not sure if you'll work out yet. I'm sure TR will get back to you if you are permitted to continue posting........... Wink

Girls' baseball league all-star pitcher and catcher (long ago in a previous century just before the start of the lawsuits against Little League).

Little League assistant coach. Worked closely with the kids that were struggling. You know, the ones that the head coach didn't really have the patience for but were critical to winning the year end tournament. (More pressure when the entire line-up can hit.)

Played four years in college of D3 tennis.

Researched and supported my son through the recruiting process. Not to mention many years of catching, throwing, and hitting baseballs until he was too old to do these things with Mom. (I miss it!)

As someone else said above, I don't provide any technical recommendations but can only provide advice on my own experiences which are the parent's perspective on my son's years playing baseball and the recruiting process he went through.

Me, too! (where did you get your mitt? I had a Rawlings Earl Williams)

Football and lacrosse in high school. Coached one rec basketball game (we won!). LL- Kept score, threw BP (lefty), shagged OF. Flag football- I was a stance and hands instructor. U8 Lacrosse- I taught bloody knuckles, body checks and off-hand passing and catching. A specialist. Smile
I am in favor of a Constitutional Amendment that says the government should provide the resources for Daddy Ball for everyone that wants to give up thousands of hours of their life, spend time with thier children and provide a positive outlet for groups generally talented kids.

The reward is no pay, comming to this web site and have their contribution and interest mocked and dismissed.

My mom went to S & H Green Stamps and had to order one. It was a Wilson Claude Osteen. Apparently, LH catchers mitts are not hot sellers.
Parent who has paid too much money to people who may or may not know a lot about the game. Having said that, have learned a ton along the way, most of which was an affirmation of what I already knew from coaching at the community level for the past 19 years or so.

And I've dwelled on HSBBW for the last few years, learning lots from you all along the way.

Business person with a finance degree.

Also, I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
But do we really know what advise people on here are getting and using in their own situation? I have read many threads and topics here that have had both sides to the discussion, and you have to use what you feel is best in your situation. It seems most people are saying that they really dont have a ton of experience, they just are conveying what they did along their son's journey.

And to put it back in your court: Just because you have over 24,000 posts, it doesnt mean your advise is sound. Not to be harsh, but you know where I am going.
Mizzou...you just don't understand. Baseball is very confusing and complex. It cannot possibly be understood by mere mortals without expert guidance. Some things are just mystical...magical. We simpletons are not expected to understand on our own.

There are experts and then there is an EXPERT. When the EXPERT bestows wisdom, simply bow from the waist and thank him...when he chastises you for your ignorance just be thankful he read your post at all.......... Wink

TR - If you think there is bad advice being give, come down all over it. You make a general statement about credentials, then offer no examples. We can all learn from each others opinions and advise.

You have been through this so many times, and over so many years, I personally have a lot of respect for what you have to say. As someone who is in the business, and has helped so many young men get recruited successfully to play college baseball, your opinion on what is being said is very welcomed.
I know nothing about baseball except:
How to take a group of 5Yo's, some who couldn't even tie their own shoes, and over the course of several years teach them most of the apsects of the game and the game within the game so that when they moved on to HS baseball most made their HS teams if they still wanted to play.

Their HS coaches had it easy compared to what me and my daddy coach assistants had to deal with.

Apologize for the hijack...but did you know that John Wooden used to teach the UCLA players how to tie their shoes on the first day of practice? Smile

Obviously there was a deeper reason, but kind of interesting and it popped into my head when I read your words.
    Well here are my credentials:

2 yrs CF Foxfire-Ponderosa Little League in NC

Wasnt very good at it so stuck with Football and Basketball and some Track.

Ended up playing football at Air Force Academy, played safety. QB my freshman year was Dee Dowis, fast fast fast. Left the Academy and went to NC State degree in EE.

Love baseball but farrrrr from expert, cant give much advice on the ins and outs but can contribute when it comes to recruiting.

Yes, you have said that many times before, over many years. I don't know how we have managed to keep the site going for the past 12 years or so!

    Julie

Because of people like you Julie. Many so appreciate what this site has offered to people who just need help navigating their way.Sometimes its just sharing ideas,bt none the less helpful.
