Coach, there's only seven or so locations. Just visit one a week, and be sure to wear a shirt that says: "I Love (insert graphic of a heart here) Linear Swings".
You should be able to pick him out by the look on his face. Heck he may even through you out of his establishment.
And tell me how the pizza is, there are some pizza joints down here that could use a little help with the recipe.
HHHUUMMMMMMMMM...Knowledge plus work, huh? Where did this thread go?
Knowledge plus work plus working capital.
I have to give the edge to Teacherman. While land is really valuable and you can even walk on it. Pizza is better because you can sink your teeth into it.
Now on the otherhand if families like mine and coaches didn't farm the land, their wouldn't be any ingredients to make a pizza out of.
I'm not sure if I solved anything, but I'm sure getting hungry just thinking about it. I'm going to lunch.

Leave it to chance - no way
BUT....
I would much rather have my son learn from a person with average to above average baseball knowledge and good teaching skills than a pompous expert who can't get their point across, and leaves him frustrated.
Granted, not all experts are pompous and some really do have great teaching skills, but that is not always the case and sometimes you have to choose.
Expertise is great in the right time and place - it is not always useful in ordinary situations.

AParent....sounded like AGenius with that post. That has been the point of every intelligent coach on this topic....well said.
AParent; Amen!

I have no problem with kids. It's the adults who refuse to study and keep offering bad advice.
By the way, I'm still waiting, Coach. You're the one that offered to compare anything. I accepted. Explain how I've changed the subject. Please beat your chest some more. I get a real kick out of it.
Teach,
Be honest.
You have no idea what parents do and dont do. You are not enjoying this experience very much.
It has been bad for you. That is my guess.
You have parents here who have kids that are All-Americans - pro players - you have parents here that have kids that are going to be pro players.
You have people here who devote their lives to the kids' future.
You have people here that are professionally employed by MLB.
You have parents here whose kid have reached their dreams of playing college ball - at any level.
And it is all signifcant.
And your rantings and ravings about the game are insignificant. Completely insignificant. I mean - absolute zero.
Again - I dont mean to be nasty - but I like to tell the truth as I see it.
You should embrace the game - IMO - and you should embrace all the wonderful stories you read about hear. You should also let go of the personal disappointments.
If you really love the game - and really want to help the kids - you will stop the nonsensical posts that have been a recurring stain on this site for over 2 years.
Pass the knowledge, the passion and love of the game - that you have - on to the kids - and let the personal disappointment go. Just do it in a way that is about the betterment of the kids - and not about your ego.
Just trying to help you - Paul

Getting in a pissing contest never solves anything. It might make you feel a little better to "get things off your chest" but from my experiences it is only temporary. Usually you look back on it and are sorry for ever getting envolved in it in the first place. This site is about sharing knowledge, learning from others and making new friends in the game. We are not always going to agree. I dont think we would ever learn anything if we did. But we can agree to disagree like adults and not intentionally try to hurt others feelings. Now I can be just as big an a** hole as the next guy if I want to be. But it serves no usefull purpose. I have learned some good things on this site. Jerry with PG sent me a book on baserunning and I immediately changed a couple of things because I had an open mind and wanted to give our kids the best we could. If I was closed minded and thought I knew it all I would be hurting my players for the sake of my ego. What kind of coach is that or parent? Just my opinion.

And......we have you. Mr. nothing to offer but criticism.
Say something about hitting Its........pitching........at least act like you know something.
Paul,
Great post! Richard Shenck is and will remain a bitter little man. It has always been evident from his condesending posts.
Richard, I'm going to save you from reaching for your dictionary.... condescend, condescended, condescending, condescends: 1. To descend to the level of one considered inferior; lower oneself. 2. To deal with people in a patronizingly superior manner.
In the years that I've lounged on the HSBBW site, I have rarely seen an adult that refused to learn more about the game of baseball, as you put it. They simply don't want to learn the game from you. As I've stated more than once, you have knowledge to share. You just don't know how to share it, without looking down your nose at everyone.
I'm 51 yrs old. Baseball has always been a part of life, to me. It comes from the era of my childhood. Baseball is far more than the debate over linear vs rotational.
I've been lucky enough to coach several hundred kids, in my little corner of the world. I offered all my limited knowledge concerning the mechanics of the game, to these kids. What I'm most proud of is the fact that I offered them some of the rules of life, rather than baseball.....how to respect your teammates.....how to respect your opponents....how to respect yourself. Remember, less than 5% of the kids, whom we have coached, will make it to the next level. I see some of the kids that have moved on, from time to time. They still call me "coach". That tells me they kept a little part of what I offered to them.
The following response, from one of your post on the Batspeed site, says it all.....
**********************************
Teacherman quote:
"I don't believe the rest of you are very good at picking up on sarcasm."
Response from another poster: "My agenda for today is to point out to anyone reading this, that teachers (good teachers, that is), teach. They do not intentionally obscure, they do not keep subject matter from their students, and they are not sarcastic."
**********************************
FYI, Richard.....the definition of sarcasm is; 1. A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound. 2. A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.
As always, all of the above comments are merely my opinions.....which costs nothing...while having even less value.
Be good,
David

Thank you for the evidence, Lefty.
I enjoyed your absence.
Another post about anything but hitting and pitching.
Surely you don't want anyone to do the search and find the truth about your posts.
Say something.....or you're going to come up empty.
I'll help you get out of that whiner trap.
Let's me and you debate hitting, Lefty.
I'll start. What is the reason so many hitters these days seem to wrap the bat? Wouldn't that make them slow to the ball? Yet, many of them can really hit. What do you think Lefty?
.......................don't be bashful Lefty. Give us your opinion..........or...........would that reveal something????????????????
You say you're a pitcher. OK, what does a pitcher need to do to be able to rotate into footplant better? What is the significance of his weight distribution? His handbreak? His sit?

Richard,
If your point is to show your superior knowledge of the mechanics of the "swing", I'll be the 1st to agree that you are the superior, in that contest, compared to me.
Evidently, you didn't read my above post. I'll type it s l o w l y, this time. You have a plethora of knowledge, concerning the physics of a "swing". Far more knowledge than I could ever dream of having. That has never been questioned by me. You simply don't have the ability to get your message across, without being a jerk. It's as simple as that.
What you don't have is the respect of others. I would bet that is the case in your "offline" existence. I'd much rather discuss hitting with your buddy BD. He has become much more "user friendly", with much of the same caliber information.
I've got to drive into my office for the day. I'll check for your little pearls of wisdom, once I get there.
Have a wonderful day!
David

Ahhhh.......now you want us to believe you are a pitching expert too? Wow, there's very few humans on this planet that match your knowledge of the game.
Again, my little friend, I am not questioning your superiority in the physics of baseball. I never played at a tiny college, like you did. You win! I didn't go to college. I went to work as a laborer, once I left high school.
Richard 1 - David 0
As the crowd roars.........
Be good, little fella,
David

Don't observe these threads usually, but was not surpised to see the PG man helping out and Coach May being receptive.
It has been a privilege for me to learn and observe on this site, because I knew nothing at all.............
But I have personality issues myself and like to keep score too.
And I have this one:

Richard Nothing
Not sure I can say I really enjoyed the game, though.
The game has been called! Since I threw out the first pitch I will call the contest. Sorry folks! After five innings (pages) the the score becomes offical and will be.........
