Ok, gotta say that argument doesn't hold water with me. It's not that the participant is a willing party to the trafficking in some cases. Appearances can be deceiving. What you seem to be missing out on is the corruption leading to the point of the actual illegal act of human trafficking. Just because they are playing a sport and have the opportunity to make a lot of money (which from the story appears a portion of which is extorted from them), they are still being illegally trafficked and used for the purpose of LABOR by MLB teams. This is illegal, regardless of whether the party to the crime appears to be a willing accomplice.
