With BBCOR, solid contact on the fat part of the barrel is going to yield similar results from bat to bat assuming the same size, weight and swing speed.

While there may be some slight variability in “pop” from bat to bat, I think people often mistake “pop” for consistently getting the sweet spot on the ball.  This can happen because they swing a particular bat well due to it fitting their style or because the the manufacturer has succeeded in making the sweet spot easier to find for more players, ie bigger.  When miss hits become singles and marginal hits find gaps, due to a big forgiving sweet spot, whatayaknow.....this bat has great “pop”.

If you are using lizard skin, are you overlapping the tape by two holes? I ask because I had the same issue. I was not over lapping and the grips would start to come apart. By come apart I don't mean spread out where the each wrap separates from the last.  The layers of the grip would separate. I did a little research and Lizard is meant to be overlap by two rows of the small holes in the grip. The grip ended up a lot shorted on the bat and held up A LOT better and longer.

Handle diameter is going to vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and within the bat lineup of each.  All of the DeMarini two piece bats I have on hand have a very thin handle.  The Red Meta is similar but I don’t have a caliper to see if they are exactly the same.

For one piece bats the Cat7 and VooDoo One look very close but the Rawlings Velo is considerably thicker.

I've seen a couple kids hitting the new select at Cressey. They seem to hit it pretty well. However, I'm sure you could put anything in those dudes hands and they will rake.

My son went with the Goods full-time at the end of the season. His back injury is long gone and he is stronger than he was pre-injury thanks to his rehab. He was dropping down to his Meta 32 for high velo pitchers but at the end just stuck with the Goods. Now they will both (and the Voodoo 1) all go into the bucket in the garage for 8 months.

Same here. Started off with The Goods, swung the Voodoo One for two games, switched to his red Meta, and then went back to The Goods. He completely gave up on the Voodoo One. It has sat in the garage and not moved. He is wanting to move up to a 33" in the fall, so sometime this summer going to offload all of these bats. In anticipation of that move, trying to grab a bat or two that may be hard to find come the fall. Thinking about picking up one of the green Goods in 33" and the Select PWR in 33" and just stashing them until the fall.

Has anyone had their son drop down from a 34" to a 33"? Mine has been using a 34" but wonder what would the effect be if he dropped down an inch and an ounce..

A couple kids on my sons HS team dropped down. One is very armsy with his swing and he saw a big improvement. The other can’t hit a curve so it wouldn’t matter what he used.

Do you have access to a Trackman? It was very helpful for my son to see the difference in bat speed and exit velo between sizes.

Ha!  my son swings a 34 5150. he loves it but i think he could be better served swinging a 33. he has a stinger nuke that he just doesn't like so he's convinced himself that it's the size, not the model.

a couple of weeks ago he was missing barrels a little. nothing major but i finally had him convinced to maybe try a 33" 5150 in practice. before it arrived, he hit 2hr in 3 games with the 34. I don't think he's going to give it up at this point.

Just asked Son he said, the Select PWR is more end loaded then his Nox, but less end loaded then the Goods. If that helps.

The end load comparison to The Goods is exactly what I was looking for. If it is less end loaded than The Goods, this should be right in his wheel house. Even though he is swinging pretty good with The Goods right now, I think a bat with end load between The Goods and the Meta Prime would be the best match for him.
