Good morning/afternoon Girlfriends.

I have a personal prayer request, if I can be so bold as to do that here. I was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia a little over 2 weeks ago ... the classic 'walking' variety. Have done one course of antibiotics and was feeling better, tho far from great. Have taken a bit of a downturn the past couple of days and now can hardly take a breath without pain. Would appreciate the prayer power of our distaff HSBBWebsters so I can start feeling better. This is getting old, and altho I realize that is nothing compared with what others have to contend, nevertheless I feel rotten and would like to get better sooner rather than later.

Thanks, Gals.

PS Smoked for 40 years, never ever having experienced pneumonia, and now after being off those things for 18 months, I am sick as the proverbial dog.

FBM....first congratulations on the past 18 months, and this might not help right now but if you were still smoking you would probably be feeling a lot worse now.....either that or you would be sick and feeling quility at the same time.....because you were still smoking...(says one ex-smoker to another)

Will most definitely start those prayers for you.....the weather here has taken a turn for the better.....maybe that will help you too.....

Please get well soon......
Dont worry Futurebackmom,...while I'm not a doctor, I do know sometimes these things take a few rounds of antibiotics to actually go away. Been there done that,..its nooo fun!
Moms have no time to be sick. Who has time to feel like cr*p?

Prayers are a comin' from our way,..you hang
tough,...be sure to contact your doctor again, ok?

I believe Baseballbuuzz has the tiarra at this point,..perhaps she will pass it on to you because anyone who quits smoking,
deserves it in my book!!! Smile

Kee us posted as you recoup!!

FBM,

I do pray you get well soon. I hope you are staying in touch with your doctor.

I had pneumonia a long time ago with pleurisy (spelling?). I had very sharp stabbing pains every time I took a breath. I drove myself to the doctor’s office everyday for a shot. I even remember that when I went to the window to pay my bill one day, everything started to go blurry. The next thing I remember they had me in a chair with my head down between my knees…lol…

So, I do know how you feel. Please take care of yourself and let your doctor know if you are getting worse.
FutureBackMom - I hope you are getting lots of rest and someone is bringing you lots of fluids, along with a little chicken soup. You need a good doctor and someone at home to make sure you get special TLC.

I tip my tiarra to you and gladly hand it over - may you soon wear it in good health. I, too, am a former smoker (quit 1/1/2000) after 25 years of addiction. Congratulations to you on accomplishing a very difficult feat. clapping

I will keep you in my prayers.
Thanks to all the Girlfriends and apparent Guyfriends who have been praying ... but please don't stop.

I had a really rough week last week for some reason, with a downward spiral over the week-end that had me wondering if the meds were working. Chills and fever, aches ... thought maybe I was getting the flu on top of the pneumonia. I woke up this morning feeling half human, but each day as the evening comes, I get really exhausted and need my rest. (I am up this late because I napped on and off this evening.) I am just stunned that it has zapped so much of my energy and doesn't let me forget I am still not 100%. Add to that the frustrations of hearing internet broadcasts of son's games and some days I am a real basket case.

Thanks again to all for your prayers and PM's ... I really appreciate the prayer power on this site.

Mary Ann
FBM - just got back on and saw your post. Know that you have prayers coming from GA also.
I lived through that with my husband a few years ago. Just make sure that you do not overdo it during the day. Get all the rest you can - let the family do everything else. That way you can build up your strength. Also, don't try to get back to your routine too soon - take a little extra time, after you start to feel better, to get back into your old routine and make sure that you are completely over it all.

Again my thoughts and prayers go out to you.
FuturebackMom,....stopping by to check in on ya.
Wish I could fed-ex my midland farmer's wife's chicken soup your way! It always helps with the aches and pains and the "blahhh's" that come with not feeling 100%.

Sending you well wishes,..pre-harvest sunshine,...and smiles.
Our multi colored mums are in full bloom out here already,..they are soo pretty!
A rainbow of bloomin' color comin' your way!

Again, thanks all. Feeling better today with some of the energy returning. Tough to wait it out when the dust bunnies have evolved into jack rabbits and are glaring at me from under the coffee table. Have to try and keep myself in check even tho so much needs to be done around the house. Hubby is out of town till tomorrow afternoon so at least I don't have to worry about dinners and lunches and ironing right now.

Thanks again ... and please keep them prayers a'coming
MA: sorry to hear about your illness, I’ve just recently logged back on the HSBBW, so I just heard. Bullwinkle has heard the hacking and choking….. But I thought that was coming from the Boston Red Sox…not your house.

Get better girlie.

Bullwinkle is currently is hiding as it is Moose season in most states, but I will check this site from time to time incognito to check on your health.

Little Miss Bullwinkle season opens at Stanford tomorrow then at Cal on Sunday. So, Bullwinkle will be traveling into the wasteland north of LA. I’ll pray for you, if you pray for me, I don’t think the Big Guy likes back scratching praying, but it’s worth a shot. Just in case; I have gas, oil and 7-11 on each block to increase my carb intake.

Ummmmm…Slurpy and Super 44 oz. Big Glup….

But I digress, get better, and feel better….

Ummmmm….hot dogs that have been sitting on that roller thingy since 1984.

Gotta go, get better…
Thanks all. Still struggling a bit with something that is causing low grade fever ... perhaps a secondary infection somewhere. Have a follow-up with doctor today so hopefully the lungs sound better.

lovethatbaseball ...
The point about the dust bunnies is well stated, as I have been getting a little cabin fever with all this resting at home stuff. However, I am concerned that during one of my more febrile moments, I started naming my pet bunnies (Dusty, Fuzzy, you get the picture) ... is that something I should be worried about?
FBM.....do your men folk even notice the jack rabbits? I'm having knee surgery tomorrow and have had to take it easy for the past few weeks.....and I've come to the conclusion....I'm the only one in this home that sees the dust......amazing......maybe men are born with different eye sight?

Then when I fret to my husband about the dust....he tells me not to worry.....it will still be there when I finish rehab/PT.... .... which he may need soon also!

Hope your follow-up went well....sometimes just a different antibiotic will help.....still praying for you......

Lady,

That sounded so much like the men at my house, that I couldn't help but laugh.

Every time I tell my husband the house needs to be cleaned he says "it looks fine to me".....And the part about you can clean it up later when you finish rehab....That sounded so much like my husband that they must be related...LOL

P.S. Hope all goes well with your surgery today!

Doctor sent me in for another x-ray as he said my chest didn't sound good at all. (The last few times he has listened, he had me breath in and out many times but yesterday it took only one listen on each side.) He also ran some blood work. Hubby took me in for x-ray shortly after the doctor's visit so they will call him the results this morning. He admitted that he is very concerned since I had the 'relapse' on my second round of antibiotics and said he may need to send me to a pulmonary specialist as he is concerned is might be Valley Fever, which is a fungal infection that can lay dorment for months. I believe they can diagnose that with blood work so we shall see what they say today.

Gail ...
Hope your surgery goes well and that you rehab quickly. Gotta get you healthy for the move back east to that new home near your son. Take care.
FBM....I'm concerned about you.....and a lady that failed to pass surgery 101.....should not be worrying so much.....I showed up yesterday.....at the prescribed hour.....went through the check in process......put under...and then awakened with the anesthesiologist standing over me saying I coughed too much......surgery off! My sore throat and bruises under my chin tells me I probably gave them a rough time.....

I have a proposal for you.....you get rid of that gosh darn pneumonia....I'll get through knee surgery....and before I leave for NC.....I'll treat you to lunch....Duke's at HB pier....deal?

Can't speak for you...but one of the good things about this whole process....I've noticed they are making Doctors younger these day....and oh so cute....makes the ride a little better..... Big Grin

Get better Mary Ann.....
Thanks Gail.

But it sounds like you had quite a disappointing time while you were 'under' ... I hope the vute doctors were worth the time. And you are on for the lunch ... right now I would do just about anything to get over this thing.

Seeing a pulmonary specialist next Wed, unless when I speak with my GP he can get me in earlier. My hubby is not happy that it is going to take so long ... it has been a very very rough week, and couldn't even prepare dinner for hubby's birthday today. Had a burst of energy just after dinner but that didn't last long. Blood work didn't look particularly good either ... still waiting on some of the results ref WBC differential and coorelation with elevated sed rate (all our RN moms out there will know of what I speak ... I have learned a lot on the internet lately.)

Thanks again to everybody and tho this may be selfish, I still covet your prayers for some answers and some renewed energy.

Selfish,..I think not!
Renewed energy,...being sent!

I hate waiting for lab results/answers,..especially over a long holiday weekend.
We are waiting with you,..remember that!
Send us the stress,..you rest. Wink

Prayers are still on their way!!!
Sending postive charma too! ( ok,..so that sounds a little hippie-ish, but what the heck! Postive vibes are positive vibes! Healing crystals, herbal tea,..whatever the solution,..we'll take it, right? )

HUGZZZZZ!!! Please get better and keep us posted!
