Geez,
Raining on a LL parade. ....Unbelievable.
My mom and my stepdad went on vacation a few weeks ago through the northeast. Flew into NJ, drove on up to NY City, made the trip to Cooperstown, then Niagra (left early cause there's nothing to do there but watch the falls), and made an unplanned trip to Williamsport.
As soon as they got to the fields, my mother called me to tell me that after all these years my stepfather (I call him Pops) had FINALLY made it to Williamsport! You see he had six opportunities to make it there with me and my two older step brothers. But none of us could make it out of the state, although my middle step brother almost did in the late 70's.
You see, even though he coached his last game over 19 years ago, it still meant the world to him to actually see the field he hoped one of his son's could play on all those years ago. Because it meant so much to him, LL baseball will always have a very special place in my heart. And his heart too!
I'd like to thank LL Baseball for bringing two seperate families together (he taught me how to play the game). Sorry we couldn't get you there pops, but I'm glad you got to see it!
I begin my quest quest for Williams port in the spring, as my son turns seven and will experience baseball for the first time..... if he still wants to.
For those that say Little League isn't baseball....IMO you're wrong. It is the quintesential form of baseball, it's FUN baseball, and that's what the game is all about!
BTW, we watched this years championship together, we had a great time!
