They lose 11 just to make it look good.
May - they sign Ed Kranepool and Al Weis. Both guys pinch hit sporadically throughout the rest of the season - but never make an out.
June - they get Mo Vaughn back. Mo eats 28 hot dogs per home game - and Mets concession sales take off.
July - They add Joe McEwing and Jeremy Burnitz. They dont play at all for the rest of the season - but fan attendance swells.
August - They bring out the big guns. They sign Kenny Boswell - he goes on a tear and hits a homerun in 18 consecutive games. They also resign Roberto Alomar and hold pre-game spitting contests for the fans. Attendance continues to build.

Well mets just won again today (it was the nats though) and yanks won, sox lost
Like I said a couple of weeks ago - World Series Yanks over the Mets in six.......
And now they are 7-1 and hitting home runs as well
Only 154 of these to go, and thats just to make the playoffs.

Im a big met fan, but let's not get caught up in all of this. We won the nats and the marlins (who was rated by SI the worst in the NL east, so once we beat the braves, or angels, then we will really see.
The Mets are the best NL East team on paper......and in the standings.
The Mets supposedly had been the team to beat the last couple of years, and we know how that worked out. 
Don't count the Braves out just yet.
What I'm looking forward to is watching 'ole George implode and stir things up if he watches the Mets continue to do well. The Yankees already have a payroll larger than the GNP of several medium sized countries...it'll be amusing to watch him try and add another $50 million or so in payroll to try and recapture the headlines.

Life long Met fan .... Lets hope that we are this happy in Sept and Oct. And OH in May when we sweep the "OTHER NY" Team at Shea.
