$1,000 would be around the norm for a senior sign. Possibly a bit more for a junior, up to $5,000.
A junior with a high profile who dropped for whatever reason, and who got picked by a big market team, can do much better.

A junior may still get rest of his school paid for and a senior MAY get some school money in the deal.

So does that mean a Jr can get drafted, sign, finish school (playing for his school team or no?) and then start up with the organization NEXT spring??

If the jr drafted player's team is in the playoffs, they finish with their college team, and then, begin their assigment with the MLB team that drafted them almost immediately.
Short season is a minor league season mainly for recently drafted players that starts up shortly after the draft and winds down around 9/1 when the full season minor league teams finish.
Most drafted players are assigned to a short season team, but some are assigned to other full-season minor league teams that are short players due to injuries, or other issues.
