I turned it off at 3-3 at the end of 9.  From now on, I'm just going to watch from the 5th inning on.

Glad to see Springer get on base and get a couple hits to make the game interesting.  I still can't believe Verlander gave up a 2-run homer with 2 outs and a 0-2 count.   You could tell he was kicking himself there.

I was surprised that the he gave up a tater in that situation but wasn’t surprised that he gave up another after Joc’s. The Dodgers had some really healthy hacks off of his fastball - fouling several straight back over the course of the game.

The Dodgers weren’t fooled a ton at the plate last night but the Astros had the ball bounce their way more.

Astros all the way!!!  It would be nice to see Hinch not panic so much and make knee jerk reactions like he's done the 1st 2 series. We should be able to at least split in LA and then finish at home. Once you get past Kershaw, I'm not too impressed with the rest of their starters.

I'm not seeing where the dodgers supposedly have a defense advantage. 3rd-Bregman over Turner, SS-Correa over Seager, 2nd-Altuve over either, 1st toss up between Gurriel and Bellinger, C-slight edge to Grandal, CF/RF both teams are very good, LF advantage Dodgers.  I would say slight edge to Astros overall.

Maybe you’re not seeing through your bias. Fangraphs has the Dodgers rating 5th in fielding. The Astros are rated 29th. In just straight up fielding percentages the Dodgers are 12th. The Astros are 20th. Fangraphs has Gurriel, Springer, Gonzalez and Redddick in the top fifty of worst defensive players in baseball in 2017. The Dodgers have three in the top fifty of best defensive players. The Astros have none.

So Springer makes 1 error all year and he's top 50 worst defensive players in baseball???

Astros- C-.995, 1st-.992, 2nd-.982, SS-.978, 3rd-.968, OF-.996, .982, .976

Dodge- C-.995, 1st-.993, 2nd-.982, SS-.979, 3rd-.969, OF-.996, .972, .967

Fielding % for both teams..explain the Dodgers-12th and Astros-20th again. Fielding% pulled from CBS for starters that are playing in WS.

well there is more to fielding than just fielding percentage. it is important to make the plays but at the mlb level about 70% of defense is range (because most can field a ball and make a throw there).

even in fielding percentage the dodgers are better but their real edge is in the range and also catching. almost all of the astros players have below average range in the field. there is no doubt the dodgers are the better defensive team.

there isn't really a position where the astros have the edge and some have a big dodgers edge (catching, 1B for example)

Other than 2b, SS, 3b and CF, I agree with that.

I think you're looking through Dodger colored glasses or you live in Colorado and enjoy smoking a doobie doobie a little too often

This is the best article I have read about the game. Really good!

https://www.sbnation.com/2017/...odgers-astros-game-2

LOS ANGELES — At some point after the hills around Dodger Stadium caught on fire and a drunken fan jumped into the Astros’ bullpen, there was a home run, a longer home run, an even longer home run, and a home run after the home run after that. There was an umpire moonlighting as a hockey goalie to prevent the winning run from scoring, and there was an immaculate bullpen that couldn’t stop allowing runs. The Astros were dead before they were alive before they were dead before they were alive before they were dead before they were victorious, and as the smoke poured into the ballpark, it was impossible to know if the whump-whump-whump of the helicopters around the ballpark were for the fire or the World Series, and it’s not like anyone could tell the difference.

Deep breath.

Hands up if you remembered that Rich Hill and Justin Verlander started this game.

Fenway, you have been a Dodger fan for a week and you are already acting like a long time season ticket holder      -  8th inning -  start to head for the parking lot...

Was a must win for the Astro's to make it a series and they did what they needed to.

This one is going 7.

Sorry, I had to go to sleep at 11:45pm.  The mind wanted to watch the game but the eye lids (and my wife) had other ideas.  It is a conspiracy against my temporary Dodger fandom.  Remember some of us are on the East coast and we have to go to work early for the man.

I agree it was a must win for the Astros, and I've already said as much.

Remember, I had the Dodgers in 5 and I still feel confident in that selection.  They are the better team.  When Verlander is pitching, Houston has a chance, as they proved last night.  The Dodgers are going to be all over the Astros starting rotation like Trump on a twitter rant.

Great summary.  My wife and I were watching the game at home and happened to be catching up with one long-distance son on the phone...  he made some comment about comparing Dodger fans to Raider fans.  I said no way, not even close.  Three seconds later, that Dodger fan jumped into the Astros bullpen and had to be escorted by a large contingency of security and police.  Did not help my argument      I had a great come-back but I would probably rather keep friends here.

BUT WHAT A GAME !!!!!

Fenway, very funny stuff, but treading on some very dangerous ground

All in good fun, folks.  Can we get five more games like that one, please?

Don't feel bad Fenway.   My eyelids got heavy around the 10th inning.

FoxDad,

I'm ready for tonight!   Go Dodgers!   You can buy the same eyekit at your local Target or WalMart  in the Health and Beauty Aids section.

Don't try toothpicks or match sticks as it will obstruct your view....kind of like the steel beams at Fenway Park.

LOL!  I don't think I'll go that far.

Probably going out tonight since it is my birthday.   Maybe find a sports bar or a restaurant with a TV or two.

Happy b-day, Fox!

Mine is tomorrow.....but I’ll barely get acknowledged (which I honestly don’t mind) because my daughter will be five and will dominate the day.

I know the feeling.   My oldest granddaughter's birthday is 3 days before mine and she usually gets all the attention.  She just turned 9.

YW but I’ll one up you here.

The 1st, 8th, 19th, 24th, 27th, 28th and 11/4 all require me spending money. #DepressedInOctober

Mr. Fenway,

We firmly believe in a persons right to change their mind. We believe it is a basic right of every man and women. Given your propensity to shift allegiances, we are reaching out to you.  We have reserved a first class seat for you on our bandwagon.  We will even include a Nolan Ryan Rainbow Jersey in our offer.

In support of your right and our offer, we will be tooting the horn on our train often this evening.

Sincerely,

The Houston Astros
