A few things have hurt Barrington. A couple of players either couldn't play (injury)or didn't want to play this year. Add to that an injury to a starter (Schell) and a few other personel issues there have been some holes. A couple of the stronger players are pressing a bit to make up for it and it has effected their games as well.

The plus side is that some younger players are getting in the mix and have done well. Look for Barrington to have a good second half of conference play.
Does anyone know how they are going to do the play-in games this year? I copied seedings from other forum, but no info on the bracketing.

Schaumburg Sectional
1.Elk Grove
2.Maine South
3.Prospect
4.Rolling Meadows
5.Palatine
6.Hoffman Estates
7.Maine West
8.Buffalo Grove
9.Hersey
10.Bartlett
11.Conant
12.Lake Park
13.Fremd
14.Schaumburg
15.Wheeling
16.Glenbrook North
17.St.Viator
18.Maine East

Would (15 play 18) & (16 v 17)? or would they do a blind draw? After that, it has to be 1 v 16, 2 v 15, etc., right? Thus, 1 v. winner of (16 v. 17) & (8 v. 9) in the EGV Regional? (I've got a headache, now)
I agree Gren. I just visited the IHSA site, and the brackets aren't posted. Any one know if there is a formula somewhere, or is it determined by another coaches meeting?

I guess Coaches don't care about the seeding in OTHER team sports, but in Baseball & softball, it is not to be overlooked. 1 dominant pitcher can really carry a team and upsets are more probable. I'd hate to face GBN (Altbach) if it weren't determined by the seeding formula. I'm glad it was pointed out, they aren't in our Sectional.
Mid-Suburban title game:

Elk Grove 3, Palatine 2 (8 innings)

Great HS baseball game. Pat Guido, who was robbed of a HR in the 2nd inning by Butch Biela (one of the best catches I've ever seen in a HS game), hit the game-winning HR in the top of the eighth.

Ryan Copeland (10-0) K'd 12, walked none, allowed four hits in eight innings.

Well-played game on both sides.
