ARMY vs. Boston College tied 3-3 in the middle of the 7th inning. CPLZ's son Kirk pitched great thru 6-2/3 innings for Army, and now the relievers take over.
GO ARMY!
A big attaboy for Kirk Porter in picking up a big regional victory over BC. Huah!
Go Army Beat Texas!
Great game, a 4-3 Win for Army! Way to go, Kirk!

Huge congrats to Kirk and the Black Knights!
I think they might be smelling blood!
Sure be nice when one of our members kids does something special that another member would not root openly for the other team Would it be so hard to at least congratulate the young man?

Tied, bottom 9...

We are huge Texas fans in this household but no matter who wins the Army/Texas game I want to send a big congrats out to the boys from Army and espeically Kirk Porter for the great job he did today vs. Boston College.
CPLZ I know you must be very proud of your son and the entire Army team!
Great Job!

Texas scores 8 in the bottom of the ninth to win the regional.
Congrats to the Longhorns on winning and congrats to the Black Knights for continuing to show that they belong. I'm disappointed to see the Black Knights end their season, but they should be happy that they had a great season!

OUCH---that hurts--giving up 8 runs in the last inning
Ouch!!! Watching it on gametracker and that was a VERY tough loss...
Congrats to Army for a heck of a season and best of luck to Texas as they advance....

Yeah 08Dad I was doing the same. TR, one run scored and then a bases loaded double tied it. Then went on to walk the next two batters before the last hitter hit a grand slam to end it.
I listened via the Univ of Texas radio station---after the last two days they have very tired announcers
Wow Texas....
The Strasburgers are done.
The Strasburgers are done.
Can you say, 'we ran out of pitching' ?
Congrats to all of the teams that will advance and congrats to all of our websters whose sons contributed to their teams in advancing to post season. Been there done that, so I know how tough it is, just to reach post season, everyone is a winner! There really are no losers in the college game.

You want an interesting read---go to the regional schedules and records and see how many of the host teams have now won the regional or are in the final today---
Then you have Virginia who showed them all-- great job by them--way to go Coach O'Connor who for part of the weekend was called Coach O'Sullivan by the TV announcers
Bottom Line-- a lot of great baseball

That's why teams work so hard to be awarded regionals, home field advantage and sleeping in your own bed, helps a lot.
Mixing up O'Conner for Sully! That's a strange one.
FWIW, Sully attended UVA and a former coach, the man gets around. He sets a goal and goes for it. We are very proud of his recent accomplishment, two years as HC and a NCAA tournamnet seed.

The Arkansas - Florida St series should be intersting. Neither has been seriosly challenged and are scoring in bunches. What is going to give in this series?
I do beleive Gainesville is now paired up with the Atlanta regional. Either Georgia Tech or S Mississippi will go there.

What is with your fixation with Sully---the announcers werent talking about him--they just called Brian O'Connor "O'Sullivan" and probably don't even know who Sully is---nowhere was it inferred

Ok, my bad, thought that was what you were referring to, and I am sure they know who he is.
What was teh point of yor post?
Seems to me that paid announcers should know their SEC coaches from their ACC coaches, wouldn't you agree?

I agree. Phil Nevin was the guy goofing the names up. IMHO, he seems like a nice guy but a below average announcer/analyst.

I was not referring to anything other than the fact they called Coach O'Connor by the incorrect last name
And NO I don't think they would know the difference because they are doing the games they get paid for and do their homework on the teams they will be dealing with in the broadcast--and where do SEC coaches get in the picture---Virginia went to the West Coast--no SEC teams there---many of the announcers have ever seen the teams in the regional prior to their assignment

Don't you think that any announcer no matter which region they are covering should know the top guys in the country? Ok now I get it from CD, he absolutely was confused between the SEC and ACC.
Ok, instead of sparing back and forth on this, how about just a big congrats to all of our kids who played this weekend, or is that too difficult?
