hokieone- Summer team last year went with Zephyr. Cool styles, shrunk a little bit over time. School team goes with Richardson. Fits the head well, sweat stains show pretty easily.

I haven't really ever heard many players voice their opinion towards the specific companies, other than New Era being the best. Can't really go wrong either way.
Our HS V team has used Richardson the last two years. Both were from their PTS performance series. First year was the Dryve (PTS45), second year was the Surge (PTS65). Dryve was micro mesh and Surge was poly-serge (looks like wool). Both are great quality. We were a bit disappointed in the Dryve in that the crown was a bit low profile, so it looked like the hats were too small and some players complained that the button touched/rubbed on their head. This one was done with piping on the seams - don't know if that factored into the low profile issue. The Surge was great. Also, thier 3D embroidery is top notch.
My umpire chapters switched to Richardson years ago when the New Era sizing became too wildly inconsistent to purchase for groups.....

Richardson makes a fine cap and it is consistently sized well......it holds up well and does not fade. I have not noticed any more sweat staining, but that is something that differs from user to user.

Now that being said, Umpires should clean their caps between uses.....

I get a new cap each year for each league I do....and I relegate last years caps to plate duty.....I usually get 2 years out of a cap before I ditch them.

More support for Richardson here. I just pulled six or seven different Richardson hats out of the closet from all different seasons. All are nicely made and looked good on. Two regular season hats are the PTS 65 Surge, early summer (all star) hat is a PTS 20 Pulse, late summer (regionals) hat is a lighter weight model 170, fall hat is Prowool 585.
