New format - What do you think?

Wow this looks pretty awesome. I like the overall cleaner look-really think the blog/clips idea is neat.

 

One thing I notice that I immediately miss is that it is harder to identify the most recent topic/post in a given forum.  I see it posted, but it is pretty small.  I did like how the most recent topic/post was posted on a separate column to the right.  But this is pretty minor and I'm sure people will adjust.  

 

This is exciting stuff!

James, I agree completely - it's harder to see the info showing latest post in each forum. I've put in a request to the support team to learn whether I can change that.

In the top right corner of your screen you should see a Dialog link. Click Dialog and you'll see your list of old PMs transferred from the old site. The rest of the steps to start a new Dialog/PM should be pretty familiar.

LIke anything new it will take time to figure it all out. I'm an old dog so new tricks take some time getting used to. I like the new look though.

Are things still loading?  Appears that way.

Change is always good!

(1) I was able to change the "Last Post" text to a larger, bold font, and also highlight the thread name in that text with blue color.

 

(2) TPM, were you not able to read the Forums without logging in? You should be able to see everything whether logged in or not; just need to log in to post etc.

 

(3) Also TPM, you asked if things are still loading... all of our data (posts, threads, members) have been ported over from the old site. I'm still working on formatting and some of the text like the login messages, Terms, etc. Let me know what is still missing.

Nice update MN-Mom..everything seems.pretty intuitive so far, I just have to get used to change (not my strong suit).  

 

One thing I see that I LIKE better is the search function.  Maybe it's just me however it seems easier to read through the options of the search I am looking for.  Maybe a refresh of the Graemlins in the future would be worthwhile. I noticed a few new items however .it might be nice to have new material to play with.

I do like the mobile site a lot. Fits the screen much better and very clean.
Bolding the topics made a big difference also Julie.

Must be I got caught up while you were formatting.  In order to see the site everyone make sure that you have the right version set for proper viewing.  It is easiser to post replies than before using phone.
Iam having an issue with the submit reply highlighting have to hitit a few times.

• Click Dialogs in the upper right corner.
• Click the Start New Dialog button, also near upper right.
• On the left side of next screen, click the Add Participant(s) link, then search for the member by typing a few letters of their name.

Adapting to change is always more challenging than maintaining the status quo. Asking for a comparison would be a good question for two weeks from now. 

It looks great. I'm trying the format on the iPad and it works great too--even has auto correct!  Thank you for all the work.

One item that seems to have disappeared is the location of the poster. I feel it brings some relevance to the post since regions can be different in their views. Is it possible to bring this back?

There use to be a function where you get a listing of all new posts since your last visit.....is that function available?

A note for iPad users. If I remember this site will now support video. But Safari does not support Flash. To watch Flash based video you need to log on with a Safari alternative that supports Flash. I use Puffin. It cost $3.99 to download from iPad apps.

Good catch, I miss that, too!  Location doesn't appear to have transferred over or be available for me to display, but I will ask the support team about it.

the old site had locations of members on posts, is that going to be imported to this new site

In general I really like it ... nice clean look and definitely more modern.

 

I'm sure there will be a few things here and there but in general great change.

It's past midnight and our night's work with the Electric Eel® yielded a coffee can sized wad of roots which had plugged our main sewer line. Fortunately we got the roots cleared out before the groundwater from our soaking rains backed up into our basement. I think it's finally time for a 'Royal Flush'.
