Does it bother you that you may be taking away from the other kids who made the team(s)???
While it is easy to put together an "all-snub" team I ask that you all consider that it isn't easy to select the top three teams with 20 coaches in a room. Put together any 20 "NH baeball minds" charged with the task of selecting the top 54 players out of the (roughly) 360 Class L players and you will not please everyone.
There are politics involved (as there are in ALL levels of sports) and once you get "too many" players on the various teams you tend to get shut off no matter how deserving they are as there are 19 other teams. Perhaps this is a great example of "arm-chair" coaching???

That's very true. Another good example is Garrett Cole last year. How he did not make at least 2nd or 3rd Team in '08 is beyond me. However, sometimes, to make these fictional teams, doing something **** at the right time, in front of the right people, makes or breaks you. It's also tough if you are playing with an excellent club....and all eyes are on a few other guys. You can fall under the radar.

The Snubbees usually continue with their excellent play and eventually get noticed and properly recognized.

Hats off to the Snubees. Their coaches & peers know who they are.
I disagree that talking about some players who had recognizable seasons and could have been considered for the team is in anyway taking away from the guys who made it. Obviously you have to cap it at some point but any discussion of great seasons by players who didn't make it to me only makes it more impressive than the guys who did.

I'm a big fan of both Decotis and Crutcher and to say they were snubbed or to recognize their great seasons certainly doesn't take away from the other boys who were selected.
Lancer Fan really, you are going to roll over on either your teammate or your son's teammate? Crutcher was a third team all state selection in 2008, his numbers were just as good in 2009 why wouldn't he be a consideration for all state? I don't know why you think that is so against Crutcher, sounds like your comment might be more personal than statistical. I personally feel that Crutcher had a good senior season, based on nothing more than statistic. But selecting All State based on how much you like a player personally is a good method for selecting all state too I guess, seems that stats would be a more logical choice but hey you do what you have to do.
GSBA: The problem with All-State selection in baseball is the unwritten rule that every team needs to be represented. I don't agree with that philosophy at all. There are some pretty bad teams out there that don't have any all-state calibre players. Should West, who won 3 games at the time of selection, have recieved 3 kids on the 3rd team?? No, they won 3 games for a reason. But it happened.
There are a few coaches who are trying to make some changes to the Class L all-state system. We want to make it just 2 teams and doesn't have to have total representation. Not sure if that will ever fly but this years selection left quite a few gaps. Example: there is a player from BG who made (after a lot of debate) 2nd team. This kid has #'s nowhere near Crutcher. Make sense? Nope.
At least the junior game roster selection is based on talent rather than other factors.
Chris Crutcher being left off of the all state list is a shame. He had a great senior year offensively and pitching. With the pitching staff that surrounded him though it is tough to stand out as an all state pitcher. Londonderry was fortunate to have three ace pitchers, but the problem with having three aces is it is tough for one to stand out above the rest. If Crutcher was on another team as the only ace his numbers would have easily earn first team all state. Anyone with a sense of baseball knowledge knows he deserved to be on this list. Crutcher is a great ball player and kid that was snubbed this year due to what Ironwill spoke about.
See Shipbuilder baseballfan is using this forum to deminish the efforts of those people trying to improve the quality of baseball here in NH for no other reason that they are taking a non-traditional approach. If the system in place was effective AAU and teams like the Orange wouldn't exist. But because the current system is flawed, teams like Orange and AAU programs not only exist but are necessary for serious ball players. You can also add such teams as the Big Blue and the Storm, which is run by one of the most respected baseball minds in NH Tom Underwood. Baseballfan you want to **** on those programs too?
Assuming this Carvella kid is in Class I then you should know that I have seen that meeting and it is very intense. There are so many teams that the coaches have to really fight for their kids. I am a Class L guy so I haven't heard of this kid, but I am sure he is good.
It will be interesting when NHIAA switches baseball from a Class system to a Division system!
Yes I have heard it is very hard with so many teams. It is just sad I think. I am a big fan of Caravella. As for my name.. I was from Medford until about two years ago. I moved to southern NH. I worked for perfect game for a while and the Top 96 showcases and saw the kid and followed up on him. I don't know him personally but thought he should have been on the All-Snubbed Team. I am not trying to compare player to player I just thought some kids need to be recognized. Sorry if I was taken the wrong way, it was not my intention.
Fivehole: baseball will be going to the division format after this season. My understanding is that the biggest difference is that will allow schools who are good in one sport but not another to petition up (not down). Example: Portsmouth would be able to petition up for baseball only and keep the other teams as Division 2 teams. The way Classes work the school would have to go up in all sports.
Class L is not doing that heal point system, unless they changed something since the last meeting. I was at the presentation an have to say I don't like the system.
I was told by my AD that at HB most sports will be Div 2 while Girls Lax, Boys Lax and Football will stay in Div 3. If I want to go up or down a Div I would have to get approval from my AD and principle and then send it up to NHIAA by Nov 8th for approval sometime in Dec. So to answer your question I think coaches can have a lot to do with moving Div as long as your record over the last 5 years supports your request. I guess we will have to wait and see……
