Has anyone noticed this son of a HSBBWebster and the Salt Lake City Buzz's 21-1 start? I heard a brief mention of Nick on the Sunday night game on ESPN.

My BA daily prospects report says he's a "big reason for Bees' insane 21-1 start."

Here are his stats:
W/L 4/0, ERA 0.87, G 5, GS 5, IP 31, H 18, ER 3, HR 0, HB 0, BB 15, SO 19, WHIP 1.06

Not bad, not bad at all!

Have fun!

I sure have noticed him. I went to sit by Deldad's charming and delightful wife and watched Nick pitch 6 innings of 4 hit ball a week ago Sunday againts Portland's triple-A Padres affiliate.

If keeping a line-up of AAA batters totally off balance such that only one ball was a legitimate base hit for six innings is an indication of being the "real deal," then I guess I can confirm that.

I also met Nick's uncle and his son, who came down from Seattle for the game. Terrific folks all the way around, and there is very little doubt in my mind that Nick will be in the show at some point this year.

In the small world category, we sat in Portland's PGE Park, and realized that the last time Nick's uncle was in that park, it was to be on the coaching staff of a high school football team that came down from Seattle to play my son's high school football team in my son's very first varsity football game!

What is the chance of that?

We had great seats (it was a 50 degree Sunday) and I had a very good view of Nick's major league curveball. "Wicked" was the word my son used. Add to the mix his devastating change, and Nick's arsenal of pitches is, in my layperson's opinion, going to get him a lot of outs in the big leagues.

It could not happen to better people!

Here was Deldad's wife, meeting a complete stranger 3 minutes before game time and sitting next to him for a AAA game while her son pitched.

I can see where Nick gets his composure.

I hadn't made my way to the Going Pro forum when I posted this. Still, there was no mention of Nick's contributions, so this is good.

I've been to that ballpark and it is beautifull to watch the sun set on the mountains in the background.

If you play in the Mountain West Conference (UNLV, SDSU, TCU, BYU, Air Force, New Mexico, Utah) you will play in this magnificent venue, as it is where University of Utah plays most of their home games. In Albuquerque, a similar situation with UNM playing at Isotopes, and on occasion Sky Sox in Colorado Springs for AFA.

A totally different thread, but I still contend that the Mountain West has some of the best venues in D1 baseball.
