Attention 16U Elite east coast players. A newly formed 16U NorCal East team has been formed for 2009 summer National Showcase Tournament play. This team is affiliated with the Nationally renowned NorCal program out of California.
Few spots remain, currently looking for elite players at the Catcher, 3b and 2-3 pitching positions. Players must be able to travel to Central PA once a month starting in January of 2009 for team practice on Saturdays and Sundays.
Current schedule includes a trip to California to play against NorCal, East Cobb Astros and other Nationally ranked teams and World Wood Bat Tourney in Georgia.

We are affiliated because our association with the NorCal program gives us an outstanding resource for:
1. Tournament qualification
2. College recruitment contacts
3. Pro Scout resources
4. We have a director and principle from the NorCal program to help us develope our program jumping the learning curve by many years.

The topic looked interesting, but I am sorry but I have to ask the questions.

Why would you need to be associated with a program that is across the country that draws from a totally different base of players and that has a very dominating reputation?

Just having the name, Norcal will not provide you with the resources that will make your program successful in the arena that they play in, it also will not draw the players of the same caliber in the numbers they do, nor will it sustain the interest of the coaches and scouts unless you do so.

From your web site, it looks like you have never played in an event south of Virginia, I noticed that you are planning to play with the big boys in California in front of west coast colleges and scouts, that will be a interesting eye opener for your program, I remember hearing even East Cobb did not do well when they traveled to the west coast a couple of years ago.

It is nice to dream, but to try to capitalize on players joining your organization with an organization’s name if you can’t produce the same product does not look right for the players and families. JMO

All very fair questions, We currently have a player that has had the privledge of playing for the NorCal 14U team this past summer. we have a head coach that has traveled to Arizona, Georgia to see first hand what caliber of play this organization has. He believes and we are confident in his opinion that we can compete if we supplement our current top level talent with more upper level East Coast talent.

Members of the NorCal organization have visited our team and spoken with our players about what it will take to be competitive. Lambs to the slaughter, I doubt it, who would that benefit? It certainly would not benefit NorCal to have an affiliated team that was not competitive. An eye opener, I am sure it will be.
We are keeping our Curve Juniors program and teams in tact, we are just looking to broaden some of our better players horizons and give them the benefit of as much exposure as possible.
Both the NorCal representative and our coach have nothing more in mind then to give those players we know the best opportunity to succeed and attain their baseball goals and dreams, nothing more.
Nothing good ever comes from being afraid to step out of your comfort zone.

We have and relay no pretense that BAMB! we will be a team with the strength and success that the East Cobb's and NorCal's of the baseball world have but we need to start or at least not be afraid to start somewhere and having a helping hand directly from one of the best programs in the country cannot be a bad place to start.

Our intent is that they can do both. We have no intention of trying to pull players away from there local programs. We just want to give those players that want and deserve this type of opportunity the chance to grab it.
for the kids to develop and perform at a high level they need to have some pretty good instruction. if you are going to east cobb for the 1st time, even at the 16u level, you will be in for a surprise at the level of competition.

please dont take this the wrong way, but the larger programs who have a number of DI recruits have very good baseball resumes, usually including coaches that have some pro backgrounds.

does your group have that.... if not i know there are a couple of former curve players who live now in Altoona and would be good for your group... former lhp mike connolly being one of them... you can call Parney at 800 go curve for any others and good luck.
catchaprospect, Thanks for the reply, we know this is a big undertaking and are excited about the challenge.
Our coaches know Parney well and he and former pro players have met with some of our players.

Our coaching staff has some former D1 players on it and also has two current pro scouts involved with the program.

We have some players that are participating on the curve juniors team www.curvejuniors.com and the NorCal east team. Any info from someone who has experienced the kind of level of play that we hope to attain is allways welcome and much appreciated
Just to shed some light on this. This is my sons first year to play for this team and has played on a high level team in the past going to the big tournaments Fla, Tenn, just to name a few. I could not agree more about the coaching because we were out coached at times not out played. I am not saying he had terrible coaches just I agree that its a different world in those tournaments.

I do believe the coaching is there for this team. The main goal here if I am correct is to get players exposure so they can move onto the next level. Winning is great don't get me wrong and a good way to get noticed but not the only way.
