Oops - haven't been here lately. Thanks RHP05! It was a fun game - always nice to beat the cross-town rivals Cool, particularly when it's the last home game of league... Frown. Actually, I think the game will be on Comcast today, so I need to figure out how to tape it - where's the VHS recorder when you need it... Congrats to your son, too, and to the team for winning league again. Hopefully we'll see you soon --- AND, perhaps Justbaseball in a couple of weeks Big Grin. Seriously, good luck to both "E's" as we all start post-season play.

JustBB - thanks for the update on the pitching coach. I agree that he seems like a nice guy, as does the head coach. We (oh sorry - MY SON only, not me Razz ) are looking forward to the 'change in venue' next year. By the way, you know what stinks - I have a client meeting scheduled until 5pm in the South Bay tomorrow and have committed to be out of town this weekend... so, I'll miss most of the game tomorrow and all of the next one, if we move on...
URKMB -
Sorry to hear about the work schedule conflict. Frown That's one nice thing about cell phones and text messaging! Just put your cell on mute and get a friend at the game to send text updates. biglaugh Not the same as being there, but sure beats wondering what's happening at the game while you're sitting through one more meeting at the office! Cool
Our season ended with a CIF run last friday. We lost 13-8, to the number 3 seed in the Southern Section. We had a good season, with mostly juniors and two sophomores who pitched a great deal. The team who won was clearly better than us, and should go far in the playoffs. To those who are still in the hunt, good luck. I don't know what I am gonna do with myself, now that there isn't any volunteer work, or games to see. Gosh, you wait so long for the season to start, and it ends so quickly!
dadchs24 - Congrats on your season! Yeah, isn't that the catch22. Confused For all those days during the season when you find yourself saying "If I only had more time" ..... and then before you know it the season is over..... and you now have the time ...... and you can't wait to be busy again with next year's season (or summer ball)! biglaugh It's proof you've got the baseball fever, and hopefully there is no cure! laugh
Well we're done -- lost to the #11 seed in first round play. What can I say -- their pitcher pitched great junk and our team just couldn't adjust. Our 05 pitched fairly well -- kept it to 2 - 0 on his watch, which is all you can ask for. Final score was 2 - 1. Oh well - on to summer ball....

RHP05 - GOOD LUCK!!!! Hope to see you go all the way. I'll be 'lurking' at your games, I'm sure (is that better or worse than lurking on the hsbbweb I wonder).
URKMB - Total bummer! Frown Though, that's not to say we are sorry to miss facing your pitching. Big Grin Son's team won the first playoff game 12-1 today. E started and went 4 with 8 K's. The big grand slam in the first inning by Hanks opened the game up with a bang and helped to be able to pull him early and save some for the rest of the playoffs. Stop by on Friday, we can use all the support we can get for the game 2 duel. duel

Bull, Hopefully our sons will see/compete against each other a couple times in the next week or so..... Good luck.....

SDBB congrats on the 8th inning win yesterday! We will see you at Duke Snider Field Friday!
Couple of upsets yesterday in San Diego CIF playoffs; couple of games went down to the last at bat or two. Very competitive baseball being played.

I watched a great game that went back and forth -- lots of good pitching -- no errors -- couple of clutch hits for both sides. Almost a shame that one team had to lose. At first, I wasn't much of a fan of the double elimination format, but it's grown on me.

Looking forward to continued good play and seeing some quality BB at Tony Gywn..
RHP05Parent - Let me pull myself out of my depression that HS baseball is over at my house to say CONGRATULATIONS on the big win by DLS - and particularly your son! I read both paper's accounts and it sounds like a classic. Good luck and keep going - since we're out, I've got my personal pick for an awesome final round.... can you guess who against whom?
Watched a really good playoff game today. Two teams playing fundamental baseball. Two pitchers dealing. One dominated the other was outstanding.

Both threw strikes-- although I have too say the umpire behind the plate had an inconsistent strike zone for both teams.... no one team got an advantage, but it was a little disappointing to watch guys getting called out or not on some really questionable pitches....

That said.. it's just a joy to watch some really good baseball being played by kids who just want to play and have fun and enjoy the experience. Today -- it was kids having fun playing a game for kids.... yep, there was a winner and a loser -- but everyone on the field and in the stands watched a fun game.
Well, our season ended tonight with a thump. Got pasted 10-1, score was 9-0 after two innings. Tough game for us--our #1 pitcher, the scheduled starter, got suspended from school yesterday and so wasn't eligible to pitch, and #2 went 9 innings three days ago so couldn't pitch either. But I have to say that what hurt wasn't so much the loss as some of the comments I heard in the stands. There is only one set of bleachers at this field, so both sets of fans intermingled, and in fact it was lovely for many folks who had friends and family "on the other side of the hill" who were able to meet and sit together. But there was a small contingent of our opponents' fans whose comments included telling each other thaa our team was from a "trashy town" as evidenced by the number of "------" (fill in the racial epithet)kids on our team, and, for example when a player came up to bat, commented that he could probably run "because they (racial group) are good at that." Frankly, it turned my stomach to hear such filth. What the heck is the matter with people? You would think they would be happy with winning the game without having to subject everyone around them to hearing their racial slurs. If I hadn't heard it myself I wouldn't have believed it. And this in an area that is supposed to be so liberal and tolerant. I am sad, sad, sad tonight.
Beepers40, You just described to perfection what a liberal really is. He/she can be liberal and tolerant about things that affect others, but can and always do flip-flop on issues that affect them...Tragically, they will continue to say and quite possibly believe that they are indeed liberal..Losers is a much better description.
Bullwinkle -
Congrats. We'll be out at TG earlier in the day. Boy, there is some good baseball being played in San Diego.

Well worth the $9 to spend the day at Tony Gywnn stadium watching some great players.

Game #1 - some folks are going to be surprised at how well these small schools play. SFC vs. the winner of Marian/Parker. All three teams have guys who will be playing major college ball in the future.

Game #2 - features one of the best (the best?)players in San Diego -- Matt Bush when Mission Bay meets the Uni / St. Augustine winner.

Game #3 -- features another of the best players in San Diego - Sean O'Sullivan. Vahalla takes on El Capitan.

Game #4 -- the returning champs (La Costa Canyon) vs. the underdog (?maybe not Fallbrook) who has had a season to remember. And, Bullwinkle's team will be on the field. Smile

Best of luck to all. Come on out and enjoy the day!

Mays
