I heard about the Hayfield/Madison game but had to miss it. Wish my 2017 catcher got in the game for Hayfield and had a chance to break that up. I definitely heard the pitcher was outstanding.

@Obeeedoe, @Nickpiest, @JGarcia_2 & @GeorgeWebster97 combine to throw no-hitter as Cougars bounce back with a 3-0 win vs. Woodson tonight.

Who pitched?

Herndon over Centreville 4-2 last night.

Justin Ager - 4 hits allowed in his last 3 starts combined, 0 runs. Neither Ager nor DeGroat have allowed an earned run in any of 7 starts.

So Herndon leads the Concorde at 4-0, with CHS and OHS right behind at 3-1.

 

I'm telling you: no better coaching staff than Coach Miller, Coach Bagby, et al to get the absolute most out of any team in any conference.

Agreed that they seem to get the most of their talent. I was impressed with how well they swung the bats against us, putting balls in play consistently to make the opposing defense work for the outs.

Wow. Hayfield beats Washington & Lee 13-10 with an 8-run top of 7th inning capped by a grand slam by Zach Branca, who went 4-5 with 2 HRs, and a double and single with 8 RBIs. Earlier in the game W&L also hit a grand slam.

Wow, I seem to recall everyone talking about a bomb he hit in a game with Oakton last year.

Chantilly over Westfield 13-0 tonight.

Oakton over Herndon 5-1.  Connor Jones complete game 3 hitter (67 pitches).  Joe Rizzo 2 for 2 with a homer, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Devon Aarons 2 for 3.

 

Three way tie for 1st in Conf 5, Chantilly, Herndon and Oakton all 4-1 in conf play.

This is unreal. How many ER has LV given up this season? 

Game of the weekend. Big win for Patriot. What does the conference standings look like?

It really is unreal.  As you know joemktg, I've seen, played and/or coached a LOT of baseball, and I don't know what to make of it.  Coach Wayne Todd (36th season of HS ball, I think) deserves a ton of credit and attention as he nears the end of a great career. The man puts his heart and soul into his program, and the results show. Below are some stats to digest. Just the facts, mind you:

 

2015 so far:

10-0

2 earned runs allowed

Outscored opponents 77-3

No earned runs in last 9 games

Note: this is a 3A team that has played just one 3A opponent (oddly enough, that was Game 1 when the earned runs were scored); all others have been 4A, 5A and 6A opponents.

Note: this is a team that graduated 8 seniors (!!) off of last year's state championship team, including their #1 P (Will Reed / now at Shepherd)

 

2014:

24-3*

VHSL 3A State Champs

11 team shutouts, including 7 straight at one point

Team ERA of just a smidge over 1.00

* 2 of the 3 losses in 2014 were to RHP Zack Hopeck (Heritage HS) who is a stud and now in the starting rotation as a freshman at Coastal Carolina.

 

 

 

Two team race, then OP. Last night's loss was the first conference loss for Battlefield, Patriot hasn't lost in conference. The teams meet again on 5/12 @ Patriot.

I need to clarify something before any rumors start.  To my knowledge, Coach Todd is not going anywhere; I have NO reason to believe he won't be around a long time.  Some may have read into my comment above.  I only phrased it that way because...well..36 years is a long time to do anything!

McLean over Oakton 8-5 on Saturday.  McLean bats were hot.

WL beat South Lakes 8-2 on Saturday. T. Herbert with another HR and complete game 2 hitter.

South Lakes beat Yorktown on Friday with a game winning squeeze bunt in the 7th.
