Some of you may remember 7steps very moving account of his journey to playing at Oberlin:

In my research on D3 schools here I stumbled onto that thread  and upon further exploration found this:

Scroll down to the state of Georgia.  Impressive.  Hope it's okay to share stuff like this on the site. If not, feel free to let me know!

Btw, he is not on the current Oberlin roster, but it's nice to know there's life after playing ball runs its course.

7steps and I had quite a few conversations when he was looking for schools. My son played in the same conference. Oberlin made the NCAC tourney last year, and I had a chance to ask about 7 steps. He was no longer on the roster, then.

We talked several times after he started school, and he really wanted to get further involved in the political and other parts of campus life. It looks like he dove in head first and has been very successful. I am happy for him. He felt he could really make a change, and clearly he has made a difference. I think this is a case where he set some priorities and baseball was lower than the others. Really at a school like Oberlin it should be. Not many kids go to Oberlin or many of the other NCAC schools because baseball is there top priority. If they do they may be very disappointed. Oberlin did very well last year, and I hope they can keep it up.

Baseball was very important to my son, and it was high up the list. But it was only one of the factors. It really came down to two schools, both in the NCAC. He believed he could start as a freshman pitcher at either school. So he looked at other factors and came to his final decision.
