Since its raining outside and we're on the topic of college baseball...I was looking at Boyd's World and their latest column.

Notice that 6 of the 10 toughest non-conference schedules in college baseball are played by California teams.

I grew up in the Midwest and was not hooked on college baseball until we moved out here. We see some great stuff!

The days are warm but the nights get cool. If you are coming down for the Stanford game bring a blanket for the seats. Goodwin field can get drafty but is a nice place, We just finished another round of rain so the air should be clear for a while. Some Nice Places to eat near the park are Don Jose's if you like Mexican Food. It is about 6 blocks from the ball field. Also Dario's for Italian Food a little farther drive than the 6 blocks but they have great Calzones. I will get the map of the area and supply the link so they are easy to find.
justbaseball and 123KMOM ...

I have a slight glitch in plans for Friday's game but hope to get to at least one if not both of the other 2 games. Am staying in tough with 123KMOM directly and looking for help on tickets ... sounds like the series will be sold out since it is the opening series for the National Champion Titans.

Hope to see you both there sometime that week-end ...
YAHOO --- was able to see 'live' on gametracker that freshman pitcher Erik Davis was called in to close out the top of the 9th inning in the final game between Stanford and Fresno State. I am happy to report that the first batter he faced was a ground out, the second was a SOL, and the third was a foul-out to first base. CONGRATULATIONS E on an outstanding debut! Now Dad, take deep breaths... Big Grin
Justbb, congrats on Erik's terrific first outing. Wonderful way to start a college career. Stanford played and and pitched awfully well in all 3 games. Seems he should have gotten a consideration for a save since on Saturday, a Stanford reliever came in with the score 11-1, pitches 4 innings and gets a save. How does that happen when the game ends 12-1?

OK eveyone...thanks SOOOOO much for the kind words and thoughts. Our family truly appreciates the warmth of the posters here. You guys/ladies are one of the best support groups around! I think I've recovered from the extreme anxiety of the first weekend, so lets move on...

Now, hoping to be down in Fullerton this coming weekend. Besides 123KMom, HotCornerDad and us, who else is going to try to make it to that great rivalry series?
Just and HotCorner ...

I will be at the Saturday game for sure, and quite possibly the Sunday game, too. My connection is 123KMOM but I have (surprisingly, since I was a Highlandermom and competed against the Titans for 3 years) quite a few Titan friends as well. To stay neutral, I will most likely be wearing UCR colors .. blue and yellow/gold ... 14

Great to see you and hubby at the game today, FutureBack Mom (you, too CatchMom Big Grin)

LOL - DB2BMom. I sure know what you mean. BTW, Long Beach has a great setup there - even a tarp to cover the infield during the (several) rain delays today. All I can say is that there are a bunch of happy, tired young men on a bus right now heading north - about 4 hours later than they had anticipated, but I am sure they don't mind one bit! clap clap
