You need not be in tip top shape to play baseball...it just improves an athlete's performance.

The same is true for golf. Golf is certainly a sport. It meets all the criteria. Carts have taken away from the physical exertion aspect, but I prefer to walk (the game was invented for walking) the four+ miles up and down the hills. The worse I play, the more exertion required (95 swings versus 75 swings, in and out of sand traps with lots of raking, etc).

Similarly, baseball is a game of developed skills, more so than other major sports.

I'm not completely sure where the sport/non-sport line is drawn, but golf is way on the "sport" side of it.
