For the past couple years I've kept up with the site giving my status as I went through high school and into my college venture. I nearly made a top 25 school's team as a walk-on and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I was going to attempt a comeback and try out next year, but hurt my shoulder lifting and really can't throw more than 80%. In the meantime, I have been able to focus on my school work, and I have picked up golf.Ironically, I never really played golf when I was younger because I thought it screwed up my baseball swing. I recently have picked it up, and as talented as I was at baseball, I am probably more naturally talented at golf. I am consistantly hitting my driver 300-340 yards, and am getting much better with my short game. I was out playing the other day, and ran into a club pro while I was on the course, and to make a long story short, he said that if I worked hard and fine tuned my game, that I could make a serious shot at playing at a high amateur level, or a low level tour in a couple of years.(I am 19). I think one reason I am playing golf so well is the mental toughness I developed through years of baseball. Baseball forces you to be mentally tough and to really think. In golf you cannot get frustrated and let it affect your game, and baseball has prepared me very well. To make a long story short, although my baseball career has ended,it has opened my eyes to other areas of life and has taught me life lessons that extend way beyond the foul lines, and has taught me good work ethic and also has allowed me to help coach a group of 14 year olds.( I love working with them). This is going to be my last post on the site, but this a great site for parents, players, and college hopeful's. My bit of advice would be to never get discouraged, and if your baseball career unfortunately gets stopped short of your goal, don't hang your head, there are other opportunities around the corner, and as much as us baseball junkies won't want to admit it, there is a lot more in life than baseball. -Gametime24

Good luck! Competitive golf is a hard way to make an easy living, but I think you are absolutely correct in saying the baseball toughness is a big asset.

Instead of never posting here again, I for one would be very interested to hear about your progress. I've known many tour golfers, and am a big fan of the game. Keep us posted!
Gametime24, Thanks for the update. Like the others have said please check in from time to time and keep us informed. Enjoy the game of golf. I get much more from the game that the so called "better" golfers. Like baseball it's not about your stats. I stay longer, walk farther, swing more, try a variety of different balls and see more scenery than most. I also meet a lot of fine people as they play through. Smile

I'm with the others, please come back to visit and post from time to time. There are a lot of younger players who can benefit from your perspective, if you'll share your thoughts on here.

As for Mr. Fungo, we're too alike on the golf course, so should never be paired together or it'd be an 'extra innings' round for sure. By the way, Fungo, do you know why duck hunting is better than golf? In duck hunting, they don't count the number of shots you took!
