Has his lost wallet.
Has over drawn account.
Has driven from Maryland to NC the last two weekends(only two weekends) to see girlfriend.

Can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!

Don't forget the parking tickets!

Also, here is a great idea (maybe too late for those that have already started school, but do it first time they come home)

Get an inexpensive 'lock box' with a key or combination lock. In it put:

Extra key to his car, copy of insurance cards, copy of drivers license and atm card. Maybe some cash or extra credit card with a low limit - emergency only.

If they have any medical needs, prescriptions, contact lens info, just any information that he may need in an emergency , or just stuff you can't get to him right away.

Son lost his keys at study hall in the evening.
His car was parked in zone that was ok for evening, but the car better be gone by 6AM or it is towed.
We had to drive 1/2 way and his roomie let him use his car to drive 1/2 way for us to give him the extra key - fun times late at night.

Niece attended Tulane when Katrina hit, she was only there a day or two and had to evacuate, did not have a car, did not know anyone except her roomate that was from Tennessee. My brother had packed on of these lock boxes for her and it was that and her backpack was all she could take with her. Had to leave her laptop and everything, her wallet was lost or stolen, having all of those documents an extra credit card, etc, was very helpful (understatement) took her two weeks to get home via campgrounds, bus rides and who knows what else. Ya never know.

Boy, I can relate!

I remember last year, when my college freshman son called at 10 p.m. to say he was having some type of allergic reaction. I told him to go buy Benadryl and he asked, "Where do I get that?" After driving to Walgreens, he called and said, "They're closed. Now what?" I directed him to a 24-hour Wal-Mart and he called me three times from inside the store for help in locating the Benadryl.

And that was only one of many adventures we "enjoyed" freshman year!

I'm telling ya. Later as the fall went, my stomach would knot up when I saw his number on caller ID.

He calls one day and says his day is going well, doing this or that later, and oh by the way, "Dad, Will backed his truck up into my driver side door today and dented it in pretty bad, but it's all good". I'm like, "WHAT?!"
Not to underestimate or diminish the importance of swine flu, but I read this week that the symptoms only last 3-5 days at most if diagnosed and treated properly. Don't worry FOG. It'll be ok.

To carry on this topic of our sons at college....

Last year - couldn't keep him at school. Home literally every weekend!

This year - can't get him to come home. Doesn't want to. Loves it where he is! I'm smiling as I type!

I spoke to my son tonight a few minutes ago.
Up at 6:30 for breakfast and an 8am class. Out of last class at 12 practice at 12:30. Weight room and workouts till 2. Practice till 6:30. Study Hall from 7-9:30. Eat then back in the room at 10 to write a paper and study. Hoping to get in the bed by 12. Back at it again at 6:30 tomorrow morning.

You better love it. You better be willing to work for it. Or you better not even think about it.
Not to get off topic, but there are higher risks patients, that can have major breathing issues and some people are still dying.
Back to college my son is liking it a lot, but the time management is tough.A lot more intense then the JC he was at last year.Especially the academics, but hes at a high level academic school, and he will have to learn to step it up.
Very busy, arrived at school late as it was, and just still trying to get everything up and running,as well as do all the other stuff. It is a grind.
And what Coach May said"you better love it.You better be willing to work for it. Or you better not even think about it".Pretty much rings true, becasue these kids work hard on the field and off.
Mom: "Did you get that letter into a mailbox yet? It's super important."

Son: "Yeah. I couldn't find a normal-looking mailbox, so I just dropped it in one of those FedEx boxes."

DOUBLE Eek

(in fairness, the kid has grown up on an overseas military base and has a LOT to learn as a 'Third Culture Kid' finally back home)
another tip

Stick an old cellphone in the stuff you send with son. If you have upgraded your phone, you should keep the old phones for this purpose so when you get the call that

"my phone is broke, I quess when we were working out in the rain the water got to it"

you can re-activate the "spare" phone to work as a backup for wet, lost, etc. phone.

We already have "activated" the back up this year! Big Grin
About parking tickets.
The mentality is what I just love.

Son: "I just parked there for a second while I picked up my book, I don't see why they had to give me a ticket."

(Wow, he must be really fast to think he can park somewhere, pick up a book, and get back in a 'second')

Son: "There was nowhere else to park, and I had to get to class."

(How studious, how about getting there a little earlier?)

Son: "We had to move a table for beer pong down the street. I don't see why I had to whear my seatbelt."

(Oh, by the way son, it is the law.)
