What is nuts, is that if these families had just donated the money directly to the schools themselves, they would have got what the wanted with no questions asked.

Watch the show. The amounts they were paying Rick Singer was a fraction of what it takes to get preferential treatment at these schools (Stanford, Yale, USC, UCLA, etc). At least according to Rick Singer.

I have not watched the show yet, but I am well aware of the case.  They paid between $200k to $6.5 million.  Those amounts would pay for a lot of preferential treatment.  Don’t trust Singer, look what happened to the others that did trust him.

Even if you have what you think is full knowledge of the case you really do need to watch the show.  It is still crazy what was going on.  Its moves quickly and is well done.   I actually feel bad for the Stanford sailing coach, also for Lauri Loughlin's daughter (yeah, I didn't think I would), and some of these kids who had no idea.   There is an underlying message related to the "privilege" money brings.  I will only say the following; these parents knew what they were doing was wrong and yes they had the money to make it happen but it was the character of the parents at fault.  Second money absolutely can buy your kids an advantage on these tests.   Some of the benefits have to do with being in great school districts but also hiring the best tutors.  There is a true advantage BUT these kids putting up 35/36's are exceptional students, put in the work, are highly intelligent, and prove that they can succeed at these colleges and universities (side note the students in this story didn't actually get these grades tho).  Not trying to be controversial just sharing my views.  Watch the show, it's worth the 2 hours.
