But everytime a pitch is delivered, it's at the ump since he's behind the plate. the only things preventing the umpire getting hit is the catcher, a batted ball or a very wild pitch nowhere near home plate.

The issue is more that the pitcher and catcher conspired in that the catcher woould intentionally let the pitch get past him and hit the ump.

From the video, it's clear what the intent was meaniing these two punks should be thrown out of the game on their ears and find another vocation before they kill someone.
