I grew up there and have family remaining. I can tell you where NOT to take your son to throw and that is at their local Little League Park in the City. You didn't say what age your son is?

We were home visiting when Prime Jr. was at or just beyond the LL age. The Park was convenient, gated but open and unlocked. We went in and were throwing on a side mound when the League President happend up us. He rather hastily, and rudely asked us to leave. Maybe if you are a paying member, they are friendlier to young aspiring baseball players and their Dads?

I remember being so mad that I called the Mayor. Anyway, all that aside, it's hard to find a place to just go and throw a baseball or hit. Through the years I befriended some folks at a local private high school, Bishop Verot, and used fields there and even their cages while visiting.

I'd look for a local school when you settle in and or maybe you will get lucky and be near an open field at a local church.

Best of luck. I can give you a boat load of good restaurant recommendations and local sights once you've relocated. If your boy is young enough for the Children's Museum, take him to the Imaginarium. Be sure to PM me before going so I can give some special instructions.

Buy a boat and enjoy the fishing and Gulf Coast lifestyle. You don't need to watch the weather channel there, except maybe during Hurricane season. And, unlike Illinois, he can play baseball year around! LOL.

Can be more specific about places to "air it out" when you know where in Lee County you will be living.
