The Pepsi Refresh is a good way to try to direct some of Pepsi's money toward meaningful projects. There are some things on there that could help people who are genuinely in need.

Personally I don't find sports fields, etc. to be meaningful relative to some of the other projects that are on the site.

However, I'd encourage everyone to go directly to the site, read through the options and vote for whatever you find the most important, whether that is a sports field or perhaps some sort of medical research that could save or enable lives. Perhaps you might want to vote for a personal favorite at one level, i.e. baseball lights, and then try to vote to make a real difference at the other levels.

CaDad, we've made it clear to all (in presenting this to local groups, organizations, and the media) that our project will not "tug the heartstrings" as much as some of the other projects, but it is important to its supporters.

It is truly amazing to read through the various wonderful projects and realize how many groups are trying to do so many things for their fellow man. I hope some other mega-corporations will follow suit and do similar projects. Nice idea by Pepsi. You just wish they could all get funding in some fashion.

There's a reason some of those projects "tug at the heart."

One in particular tugs at my heart because of one of my children, but all I'll ask is that people look over the projects and make an informed decision before voting.

I would hate to see the equivalent of a media campaign voting in a player who hasn't earned an all-star berth ahead of a more deserving player. In this case however, even though the money isn't that large in the grand scheme of things the stakes are much higher than who gets into an all-star game.

Once again, please look over the projects and vote for whatever is important to you, but please look before you vote.

Well let's see if we can help a couple different causes. You can vote once a day. So please vote one day for this one and the next day for the lights or vice versa. I've voted for the Rett Syndrome project today and I'll vote for the lights tomorrow.
