For a 2015 I would not be too overly concerned about what the radar gun (or pocket radar gun) is saying. I assume you are asking about reliability of this product. It varies, and since most pro scouts use stalker guns, that is the gun I would most trust. Also, you can get different readings on guns, depending on the angle the reading is taken from

More important at you son's age is does he get people out? Good command? Working on an effective change-up. Can he throw his fastball for a strike?

Lots of time for him to still grow and work on his velocity. Enjoy this time and let him have fun. It all goes by so quickly. Wink

I've had one for a almost a year now. I took mine out to a summer VIBL game in my area where there scouts there with a Stalker. In the first inning they had him at 92 I had him at 91 in the second inning I was standing about 20 ft. behind them.

It picks up the speed after you push and release the button so it depends on the reaction time of the operator. I usually push the button right around hand break to get the peak speed. if they were pushing it later they were probley getting the plate speed. I think it's very acourate, there is a little bit of a learning curve with it.

I think quite a few MLB teams are using it to. If your just using it confirm speeds it's great, and as we all know most dads think their kid throws 10 mph harder then they really do. If you dont need all the data you can get from the stalker why spend all that extra moneny.
