Yes, TJ is very difficult. It is an emotional roller coaster. I decided to share my son's story to debunk the myth that TJ is a "simple" procedure that everyone comes back stronger from.

I can't tell you how many people that have found out that son had surgery have made comments like, "well now he will be better than ever", or "he will be back in no time" as if it is a foregone conclusion that all TJ surgeries are a piece of cake and have a 100% track record.

Everyone that has had a son require this surgery know nothing is farther from the truth. The rehab is hard and a long and lonely process. You feel isolated from the team as you are unable to participate in drills or practice. Yes, he was in the dugout for all home games, but he never really felt part of the team. He missed all the travel and post season. I know he isn't the first or only guy that is gone through this, but he is MY only.

For all of you out there who have pitchers sons, I hope and pray you never have to go through this.

Very good post yg.  Until you live it, people just dont understand.

My son had surgery as a professional, not TJS, but the 3 month recovery he expected took almost a year until  he felt normal.

Looking forward to seeing Nick and RFFs son as well as Chefmike7777s in the game come spring!
