McKinney North's run of 4 straight district championships could come to an end this year. McKinney is loaded with talent. They have 4 pitchers who could be anybody's #1 this year in the district...except North! Razz North will need pitching, from #2 down, to step way up to have any chance at a repeat.

Frisco & Boyd should battle for the #3 spot in the playoff chase with Centennial right behind them. Badarack had a great sophomore season and has gotten better from the reports I've heard over the winter.

It's hard to say how good Lake Dallas will be after losing Adam Boydston (UTA) and their coach.

Not sure what The Colony has, but they played North down to the wire last year in the second game, so they could be better. Not sure what they lost. Seems like they were pretty young last year.

No offense to MAB, but I think it will be another tough year for LE in the district anyway. Look for them to get a few more wins with Coach Buettner in his second season there.

Should be a fun year. I hope everyone stays healthy.

Great point! Both Sorrells and Yates struggled at the plate last year, but I don't see it happening again. They are working hard and know they have to step up for us to have a chance. I think they will rise to the occasion.

I see Nico setting the longest HR record a few times also.

9-4A's gonna be a fun one to keep up with this year.

I am glad to see some of you rank Centennial in the upper half. I think it will be a great season for the Titans. We have some great talent, and a new coach who the players think will be great for the program. I think we lost 5 district games last year by 2 runs or less. Most of those we should have won. So, it will be a fun time had by all!

I expect great things from Sibley at FHS. Great kid, and family.
It is good to see District 9-4A getting a little air-time. This season should be a lot of fun to watch things develop and see who wins the last two District Spots behind McKinney. I expect the Teams finishing behind McKinney in 2nd Place - 5th Place will be very close. Each Team has some strengths and some holes to fill so every win will be critical. Badman's prediction: Centennial makes their 1st District Playoff appearance.
You make a good point Bring it.......ON PAPER McKinney should have the talent to be the winner of 9-4A...imho...lots of games left to play to see if they can answer the challenge!! They did share the district title last year with us, so it's not like it's foriegn territory for them!

(MHS is my alma-mater, so I do have a little bias for them as well......but not too much. At least not until after this year!)
Bring it.....seems you've been paying attention to 9-4A baseball. I agree with you on several observations: (1) tapping the brakes with MHS love, (2) the wind always blows out to left at North (except for one pitch Appleby threw to Dowell last year), (3) Nico should not see too many pitches to drive and (4) district pitching depth. Can't comment on Little Elm's baseball acumen.

Here's what I predict:

(1) I predict MHS fans will not miss Appleby, Smith, Woody and the kid in RF who made the diving catch.
(2) I predict Coach Gatewood will be mistakenly tagged out at 3B because he was coaching inside the foul line.
(3) I predict Frisco will have the greenest grass.
(4) I predict the district race will not be decided until the last week of the season....as always.
(5) I predict the PA announcer @ Boyd will be annoying as ever.
(6) I predict Price and Milam will not be inviting Gatewood over to watch the Cowboys in the Super Bowl.
(7) I predict the drive over to Lake Dallas will be a pain in the arse.
(8) I predict the three McKinney schools will be playoff bound.
(9) I predict that if MHS makes the playoffs, it will not be God's Will that they have to go play @ Poteet.
(10) I predict that I will be very sad to see the end of four years of watching 9-4A varsity baseball. Coach Price and his staff have helped my son mature...and I'm very grateful for their influence.
(10a) I predict that I will be equally interested in the outcome of the 9-4A softball race.....Go Lionettes!

The Falcons will have junior Michael Murray back OF/LHP who is an outstanding ballplayer (firts team all-district). They also return second team all-district senior Kale Malcom who is a slick fielding shortstop. If his bat produces a little more he could be tough. They also return their first baseman senior "Boo" Rodriguez and senior third baseman Breece Sturdy, both who hit the ball hard.
If they can find a second pitcher to follow Murray and improve on last years hitting, they could make a little noise.

Good luck to all in 9-4A!
I agree that the district race will be tight and exciting but it seems like you have to give McKinney High the edge. They return all but two senior starters on a team that went three rounds deep last year,(losing to Poteet), and in those starters they return super sophs Matt Lipka, (co-offensive player of the year as a freshman),Zach Lee (newcomer of the year) who had an outstanding summer with the team usa youth national team, as well as senior Caleb Spengler who was the district defensive MVP last year.

Bring it......I can assure you that TGUF has nothing against either team. He just has personal ties with players on North and Frisco is probably the case. No harm I can assure you.

OP is right. Have nothing against any 9-4A team. Both my son and I do have personal ties to North and Frisco. I expect Boyd and Mckinney to be at the top this year if last year was any indication.
Actually, we have personal ties to Boyd as well, they are just a different kind of ties. I think Boyd has a former Lake Dallas coach if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, good luck to all!!
