Pro or cons on Premier league. With BBI and Lone Star being so watered down with not so elite teams wouldn't this be the way to go.Have heard from some parents that scouts and colleges attend games on regular basis. That can not be said for area leagues.I know travel expenses would be one concern but everything else sounds great.Any feedback from players and parents would help with decision concerning summer ball.

Unless this has changed from last year, the "Premier Association" is not a league but a Fraternity of teams across Texas, the Midwest and Southeast. These teams will host tournaments that can be exclusvie to Premier teams, if the tournament fills, or is simply a registration fee discount for Premier teams but open to all teams.

We Played in 3 16U events last summer. The competition was good. In one of the events, during one of our games, we were aware of 3 or 4 bird dog scouts in the stands. Other games, other events, we had no idea if their were scouts or college coaches in the stands.
Starting in 2006 BBI has announced the BBI Premier League for both 18U and 16U Divisions. These are leagues with nine elite teams that play weekly double headers against the other eight for a total of sixteen games. The league fees for both 18u & 16u has been dropped from $3400 per team from summer 2005 to $2500 for this summer 2006.

DBAT, Dallas Patriots, FW Cats and Dallas Wildcats (2005 Connie Mack World Series team) are committed. Invitations have been extended to the Dallas Tigers, Dallas Panthers, Dallas Mustangs & McKinney Marshals and maybe a few others that I am not aware. Maybe DFW can finally have that elite baseball league???
this would be nice to play against all our texas talent around north texas . my son played for both pats and tigers,it seemed that both leagues would have games that were blowouts. To put premier teams together has good and bad aspects. How do kids get better if they don't play? If all those teams mentioned form a league coaches and scouts will see more games and our coaches can communicate,or whatever with said coaches &scouts at our local fields.I like competition for my son but I don't want him to have a false sense of his abilities.Any team on any day can win.
Kirk, you are correct. It can be kind of confusing because of the names involved but, the BBI Premier League is much different that Premier Baseball

Premier Baseball has these teams involved: Arlington A's, Austin Slam, Austin Wings, Bayside Yankees (NY), Bukburnett Blacksox, Cherry Creek, Columbia Angels, Dallas Mustangs, Houston Heat, Houston Kyle Chapman, Indiana Bulls, Kansas City Sluggers, Midwest Nationals, Nebraska Sluggers,Rawlings Prospects, and the South Texas Sliders.

For more info on Premier Baseball visit the Houston Heat website, http://www.houstonheat.com

Just can't see Sam's Mustangs giving Dbat and the Tigers the chance to have at them in league play.

That is not what motivates Sam Carpenter. The teams mentioned in the Premier League are regular visitors to various Connie Mack Regionals and the Connie Mack World Series. He would not be playing there if he was trying to duck people and beat up on hs teams. jmo What motivates Sam is the CMWS and getting his players seen. He is not ducking Dallas teams and just trying to beat up on hs teams. The local league that he plays in has more to do with the fact that he is the Lonestar League. That is another discussion.

Gloveman, I am familiar with what BBI is trying to do, but Clement21, in my opinion, wasn't talking about BBI Premier. If you look back at his post you will see that he is asking "what are the pros and cons of Premier league"? He then suggest that BBI and Lone Star leagues are watered down.

By the way, looks like there have been some interesting additions to the Premier group. One in particular, Kyle Chapman, looks good. Aren't the Columbia Angels, Memphis Tigers part of Premier Baseball? Or did they drop out?
Doesn't all this Premier or not-premier stuff come back to the same issue, which has been discussed here on many occasions?

Find a team where you feel that your son will get maximum exposure via leagues, tournaments, and showcases -- where he will get the playing time he deserves at the position where he "projects" at the next level. (of course, those things aren't always easy to find) If you believe being involved with a team that is associated with Premier is the best approach, then there is one in Dallas (until the Marshals join) and one in Arlington. For other Premier options...drive south or far north to find a team. I think Premier is a good thing...but it is not the only way to be seen. And frankly, I think that Sam Carpenter and Cade Griffins and a few others in north Texas are honorable men -- and would offer honest opinions if asked about players on any team. Their reputation rides on being honest about prospects and their success relies on being above-board with their organizations.
