I just got an invitation for the 2006 pitcher/catcher indoor showcase from Perfect Game. Is this a good showcase? Will any colleges be there? Would going to this showcase be better or worse than going to a Perfect Game in June.

the showcase is being held in ceidar rapids, iowa. I was just wondering can college coaches attend this showcase?
I'm not sure about attending but the whole process will be filmed by baseball web tv. and available to the colleges
My son attended a PG Pitcher/Catcher indoor showcase three years ago (was a Junior in HS, now playing ball in college). This is a smaller showcase than some of the PG showcase/tourneys and did not include live games of course, since it was indoors, but pitchers faced live batters.
It was a very good experience for my son, giving him a chance to compare himself to some excellent players (including one who was drafted in the 2nd round a few months later). There were scouts present, though obviously in smaller numbers than larger PG events. But these days, with PG planning to display video from all of their events on BaseballWebTV - no matter how many scouts and college coaches attend one of their events, ALL of the MLB teams and colleges will have an opportunity to watch the performances of the players who attend.
If my son (RHP) was still in HS, I would send him to the Pitcher/Catcher Indoor, and to the larger showcase (with game action) in June - two different but complementary opportunities.

colleges are in quiet period until early march (I think) and that means they can not look at recruits off college campus, so if the showcase is before the quiet period ends there couldn't be any college coaches there, but they may all be waiting anxiously for the video feeds.

The showcase is Febuary 11 which does fall into the quiet time. But Im not sure if u think this is a good showcase to go to or not.

My 06 has never been to PG showcase, but I trust mnmom's advice completely. I think that just getting on PG radar screen and in their database would be worthwhile based on all the positive feedback about PG on this website. I know it's not cheap, but I would go for it if I were you and you can afford it. Good luck!
I was invited to this showcase as well. The problem to me is that is costs $500. Also, if this is the quiet period then the showcase I am attending the day after this in Cedar Rapids and UNI has like 15 or so college coaches there.

that is the link to the UNI showcase I am attending on Feb. 12 and I figured since im out there, and the perfect game showcase is the day before, i would attend that as well but it seems very expensive when i wont in be in top baseball form.

to clarify, only DI coaches can't travel off campus during quiet period, so there possibly could be college coaches (DII DIII NAIA) at the UNI or PG showcase. I forgot about that until I read another post earlier today.

In other words the cedar rapids showcase is good to get on the PG radar but it is not a good because the bulk of the college scouts will not be able to attend the major PG showcases until june.
i'm sure the pg guys would let you know what scouts they expect, but if you are looking for DI contacts before March you would be dissapointed. The bulk of college scouts are DII, DIII, JUCO and NAIA, there may be lots of those guys around. i'd call or email PG to find out for sure before you spent the money.
The whole event at PG will be videod by Baseball Web TV.
