Rankings based on tournament play are meaningless. Let a few district games be played, when teams have their best pitchers on the hill, and then rank teams. I know that in 3 of Heath's losses that 2 of them came when a freshman threw and one loss came when a sophomore threw the last inning of a meaningless pool play game and was touched for 4 runs.
Soon to be fresh off the presses:

After Heath and Jake Thompson thoroughly dominated number 2 ranked Rockwall on Rockwall's home field, then RockwallBall is correct: any ranking without Heath has no validity. Not sure if a second ranked team has ever been so totally manhandled. And since Rock Dad wanted results one would have to say a 9-0 spanking with a one hitter and 16 Ks thrown at you then the results speak for themselves.
These rankings were done before Wednesday's games. So it didn't factor Heath's win at Rockwall.

As far as teams with a 6 or 7 losses and still ranked, that happens when 4A teams play tough schedules loaded with tough games. Look at Wakeland: losses to Argyle Liberty Christian (twice), Coppell, Mansfield, Arlington, Arlington Martin and Heath. They've played up, and lost, but I don't think that diminishes the fact that they are one of the best 4A teams in the area - especially in a playoff series, with Schwanke and Nixon.

As much as I like a 2A team like Palmer, or a 3A team like Prosper, Lovejoy or Argyle, I don't see how you could put them ahead of Wakeland.
BJG-
having watched Colleyville vs, Mansfield, Colleyville vs, Nimitz and LD Bell vs. Nimitz, my opinion is CH is the stronger team but not head and shoulders above Bell.
Bell has 8 seniors and the best athlete of the 2 teams in centerfield that can run down shots most outfielders don't get to. He walked his first at bat against Nimitz and stole, 2nd, 3rd and then home to give Bell their 1st run of the game.
CH has the edge offensively and should win the 6-5A district crown, however LD Bell has the talent to over-take them if they play mostly error free ball.
I would love to see them play each other and if I can I will.

MJ-8....

I would bet you some serious $$ that you take any Bell varsity player and run 'em against the Jr at CHHS Cody Thomas and Bell's best would come up short.

That Thomas kid is special. He will be one of the few to be able to go D-1 in both football and baseball.

I will give you that Bell has all the Srs and CHHS has a bunch Jrs starting, but CHHS Jrs are a better group - even though they are a year younger. Guess we'll see where the Bell CF and the CHHS Jr end up after HS.....

It will indeed be a a great game and a fun district race to watch... and neither Bell's CF nor the CHHS Thomas kid can out run the Weatherford Riebe kid. He's the fastest kid I have seen, in person, in a long time.
Thomas is special for sure. A man among boys. He is so big when he runs, he takes 1 to 2 less strides going from home to 2nd than normal HS players and gets there fast. He played RF when I saw CH. I understand he pitches.
My comment about best athlete wasn't to say which player would do better in the future, it was to state the best athlete I've seen in 6-5A. Daley from Bell is tall, hits well and will cover more ground than any kid I've seen so far, that's probably why he was in center when Nimitz played them. I've seen this kid for years. I coached against him going back to 2007 when he played for the Mid-Cities Longhorns.
I would expect him to do well post HS.
Want a good matchup.... CC Calallen vs CC Carroll both teams are off the chart with talent - and both play well as a "team."

Top player I have prob seen this year is Klein Collins' CJ Hinojosa.... smaller kid from what you typically get out of Texas as he isn't even 6' nor does he weigh more than prob 180 soaking wet...

Was swinging wood when I saw him and had no problem turning on 88-89 mph pitching - and with authority.

Someone post some good insight on Bell/Colleyville game after tonight.

Well I think this will be a Great game to watch...2 top ten 5A teams in North Texas. I am expecting to see a battle between these two teams...at the end of the night there will be a lot of Black and Blue with these teams mixing it up...and probably some Red out there as well...This is the first battle of the year for these 2.
Just saw prev post so thought I'd jump back in. I'm afraid of that 10-4a topic so hiding out here. Ha.
We got beat by Heath for sure. Couldn't score and well, we pitched our jr 2nd baseman when our starter was done. Not for sure why that was.
Lucky for us Heath went on to drop 2 to Wylie and HP. WHat's up with that? And where was Hernandez vs HP? Didn't play? Hmmmm.
Hoping for better next time we meet. Maybe Train get JT to take the night off for us. Give us a shot at Jovan or Ivey.

Hmmmmmm.... teams can go 2-3 over the course of a week and still retain a lofty ranking?

That's simply amazing!
